How does replay actually work? I thought it was used in "game-changing moments" that affected the outcome of the game. Are penalties and turnovers and receptions and... every other aspect of the game... not subject to this? I would call all of those that they did not review with video evidence fairly "game-changing"

Now, from the stands yesterday the whole situation was very confusing, and oftentimes we were a bit lost on why or why not a penalty was called. It just seems to me that to have this new reveiw feature and not use it is a waste of funds. Put it towards training referees or something.

You would think a play such as the pi against Doucet would be reviewable. But on the other hand why have instant replay when they can't even get that right such as the catch by Hester.

I'm also confused about what's reviewable and what isn't. Shouldn't everything be reviewable? For instance, shouldn't Miles have been able to have that PI call reviewed? Why on earth was that non-reviewable?

    It's pretty simple.

Judgement calls cannot be reviewed. That is why the PI call could not be reviewed.

But that is STILL my point. If someone's "judgement" is questionable, then it should be open for review.

The game would last forever if they reviewed everything . It's just not possible and it would really take away from the flow of game.

Imagine if they reviewed every play to see if there was holding. Since lineman hold on almost every play, it would get ugly.

Besides, they reviewed Hester's catch and still got it wrong. Doubt they would have gotten the interference call right, either!

When this is happening, a review won't mean much. When they reviewed Hester's fumble, it was the shortest review time I've seen taken in a while. There was no conclusive evidence to overturn the ruling, yet it was carried out. Something isn't right here...

(and the pic is a joke... although, I wouldn't be surprised)

but the "judgement" part of the play wasnt in question. they saw the PI and called it, what was in question was when the ball was tipped and that should be allowed to be reviewed even tho its not under current rules i guess.

I realize that everything cannot be reviewed. However, a coach should be able to bet a time-out over a questionable call. I think Miles would've forfeited a time-out there.
