There are times on the goal line when two fullbacks are better than one. No juking, no sidestepping, just hit the hole quick and go into the endzone. As the young running backs mature, Hester will play less RB and more FB, but right now with Vincent and Broussard not 100 percent and the freshmen completely green in Division I, I have confidence in Hester in short yardage situations.
JV is going to quickly go to the bottom of the depth chart, IMO. He's just never been the same since '03.
I think JV is ok, considering the circumstances. I wouldn't write him off so quickly yet. He was doing great during the summer camp. Let's see what he can do when the run blocking is better........ I screamed when AB got his TD, and it was heartwarming to see his other teammates congratulate him. He had endured a long hard road to recovery. Hope the game situation and success help him get over the mental hurdle of coming back from injury. For a while I mistook Charles Scott for AB when he ran the ball. Quite impressive, and so was Keiland. The receiver core looked potent with JR looking more improved over last year. WOW, can't wait for the O-line to gel up and that would really be quite a serious offense package. ________ WELLBUTRIN LAWSUIT
no matter what, we will see some RBBC. there may be a point in the year where AB is getting 75% of the carries but i think that most games, we will see JV, KW, and scott seeing 15-20 carries between them and AB seeing his own 10-20 depending on the game. if our pass game continues to produce like it did last night, it shouldnt matter who is running. i hope we redshirt richard murphy, we have plenty of RBs for now and he will likely need time to develop after being late to report. did jai eugene get in last night? i couldnt really see the numbers that well because the tiger vision broadcast didnt come through that clearly on the computer. what other freshman played?
i think possibly the best thing about last night was how few penalties there were and turnovers(obviously minus the punt returns). the PRs will be worked out i believe and its not like our RBs were showing air or JR was making dumb decisions. first games are usually for sloppiness and we didnt show much which puts us ahead of the game
I agree, few penalties and actually for a first game the team overall looked good. I was impressed with JR. MF ran the ball when there were wide open receivers a couple times. If our OL gels our running game will be the best in the SEC. The defense WILL be a force to reckon with for opposing teams. I hope they give TH another chance at punt returns. I saw more positives than negatives and that is a good thing given what is coming up in week 3. The special teams coach takes them to the woodshed this week in practice.
