Well, it was about what we expected score wise.

    My game Thoughts.

    1. JR was near perfect. Great touch, great reads, avoided pressure well.
    2. Oline, very good pass blocking, very bad run blocking.
    3. Receivers only had one drop, and even that one was tough. JR threaded one to LaFell low and outside. He had to go down to get it and it went right through his hands.
    4. Defense is gonna be awesome. We were shuffeling in two's and three's all game long.
    5. Broussard looks huge, but he also looked very confident.

    6. We need a punt returner bad. This will kill us against the big boys if someone doesn't step up.

I'll think of more later, but I just finished watching, this is what popped into my head for now.

I agree with all of the above.

JR sure did look like an uncontested starter for us out there today. Sure, all those JR bashers will say, "But it's only ULL"....but I think his throws and reads were great.

Wish we were a little more consistant running the ball tonight though. As good as AB looked, our run blocking looked good enough on one play, and then looked as if they took the play off the next. I guess that's what these "tune up games" are for though.

I was nervous for awhile when it appeared that ULL was just going for Alley's knees....but maybe that was me just being over-sensitive???

Our run defense needs to do a little better job as well, IMO. Sure, over-all, the defensive stats will look nice, but what I saw tonight was a very one-diminsional offense with under-sized running backs get positive yardage almost at will. The big boys up front need to correct their mistakes before Auburn, otherwise, Irons will post 200+ yards on the ground against us again.

We need to find a punt returner...and quickly. Chevis Jackson looked to be the best one, but I don't really like the idea of our #1 CB dodging head-hunters returning punts...

Every other aspect of the team looked sound if not spectacular.

I thought LSU looked pretty good for the first game of the season. I felt we could of run the ball better in the first half and should have. Justin Vincent did not look good at all to me. He looked very slow. We did run the balll better in the 2nd half after their defense got a little tired. I thought our defense played really well tonight. Since we couldnt run the ball the first half, I thought our defense held up real well for having to play so much. Overall I think LSU played really well tonight.

I thought the run blocking looked better as the game progressed. Broussard, Scott, and Williams didn't seem to have trouble getting yards. JV didn't look very good to me. LaFell is going to be a beast. Actually, all the receivers looked good. JR's the man. The passing offense should be good this year.

I thought the defense looked really good. Lots of substitution and seemingly no dropoff.

I kinda got freaked out by RJF's eyes. The guy looked ready to kill someone.

Understatement of the century. He looks fat and slow, and those who are calling him "back" must be referring to that 04-05 JV.

You know what I will be the first to say that I was impressed by him tonight. I still think he needs to work on "touch" at certain times but other than that a very solid outting.

Personally I say stick JV ass back there until he remembers how to run like a full time back. Ever since the end of 03 he runs like he is afraid of getting hurt. Make him return a few kicks, that should get his butt in gear.

I don't know what to think about JV after this game. There were no holes for him to run through. Maybe that is why he looked slow. He could have been trying to find a place to run to. The reason I say this is because when Russell hit him on the outlet throw he looked pretty damn good running the ball. Maybe he just needed some space. Maybe he is timid. Hard to tell from this game.

Yeah we cant have any punt return fumbles when we get to SEC play. Could cost us a game.

Sure hope they got that out of their system tonight.

Hester didn't look too shabby running the ball either. Miles said on his postgame interview that (d)ULL was intent on taking the run away. Why they would try to do that when our QB has a cannon for an arm is beyond me. O-line still needs work even if (d)ULL was doing this. And Al Woods is huge !
