As a ranked team since 00-01 LSU just doesnt play well when they are ranked. During that span the team has gone 4-5 as a ranked team. 3 of those loses came at home to unranked teams. I don't understand what it is but LSU just doesnt seem to play well when they are the favorite. The NCAA's are another good example. LSU was the higher seed in the first round the last two trips to the NCAA's and got run out of the gym in the first round. Even in the year of Stro and Jabari they were the number 10 team in america and lost to an unranked Wisconsin team in the Tourney. What about losing at home to Ball St in the NIT? I don't understand it but when LSU is expected to win they seem to play worse. Last year LSU was never ranked during the regular season and came out and beat a lot of the big dawgs in the conference. This year they have been ranked twice and are 1-2 with a home loss to Houston in that mix. This team is doing great and is going to finish well, but it just baffles me how they play down whenever they get ranked.
well thank you sabanfan..now go back to stroking all the coaches and calling people bad fans like you always do!
I don't understand how it was a stupid observation. I just said that over the last few years LSU hasnt performed well when ranked.
I thought they played well. The road is tough in the SEC. It has absolutely nothing to do with whether they are ranked. I could say that they never seem to play well when the weather outside is nice. Same thing. Stupid.
I agree with scrapster. they underachieve when ranked. for crying out loud, GEORGIA beat this bama team, and LSU SPANKED UGA by 30 points... does anyone else not see this?
Stupid is as stupid does. I can give you a million examples of that type of scoreboard comparison. It doesn't mean squat. Bama played like crap against Georgia and played their "A" game today. It's not rocket science.
Ok, playing on the road in the SEC is tough, I'll give you that. But, over the last few years, the majority of the LSU loses when ranked have occured at home against unranked teams. Auburn in 03 after beating Florida on the road come home and lay an egg against the Tigers..02 beat Arizona at home and lose to UGA..what about that same year, LSU beats a highly ranked MsST squad on the road then comes home to lose against unranked Ole Miss who went 4-12 in the conference. This year LSU goes on the road to beat a quality UWV and then loses to conference USA team Houston who is decent but 5th in conference USA. So, I think this is a somewhat relavant stat.
