How many coaches can say that they've won men's basketball NC's? Not a whole lot. So what that we don't have an elite coach. 99% of all schools don't. We have a coach that is improving our team & making us a winner. We are undefeated in the SEC.

21 assists on 26 FG. any way you slice it, that's good offense. even if it is because of superior talent, it was created by passes and not just one-on-one moves or O rebounds.

did you really expect many great recruits to come to LSU during the sanctions?

coach K had the knock of his players not having success in the nba til recently. i dont think the measure of development is success in the nba-that is one, but becoming a better college player is a better/more relevant measure.

just so you realize (not to really get into a different discussion)--how many of the coaches you listed are at schools with good football programs?

I think I may have accidentally started some of this. I mentioned that I didn't think Brady had any real offensive coaching skills. I didn't say that I thought our offense was bad this year or not doing good. I meant over Brady's time at LSU. My thought is that on years when he has a few super-talented guys, we'll beat teams because our players are good enough to score against less talented teams without a real offensive plan while playing good defense (credit Brady). But we need to keep those guys together for more than a year or the next year we go back to being beat because we don't always have a good offensive plan and our players aren't talented enough to just score on their own. That's all I was trying to say. Look at the Stro/Jabari year, we started killing teams like you rarely see and the offense was rolling. But those players don't come around that much so you need to keep those players together when you get them, or come up with a good offensive plan for years when you don't have those combinations.

And Tiger1958, I don't want to argue with you about why players quit or leave early (Bass). The point is...I don't care why. Either recruit players with character or change your attitude when coaching them. That's all that matters. Players who only average a few minutes/points become important down the stretch when you play good, deep teams or when your team gets in foul trouble. Keep those guys and your team becomes tougher to beat...end of story.

Luckily, I think there's only one team (Florida) with as much talent as LSU in the SEC. And I think the West is really weak so I think LSU wins the West easily with Bama losing their best player. I think if D. Mitchell stays hot LSU stands a great chance at winning the SEC. That would be a great accomplishment no matter how down the conference might be this year.

The problem comes when you get to the tourney and play teams like Northern Iowa who are decently talented and have an excellent game plan. That's when it'll get interesting to see what our "plan" is offensively.

Until then, that doesn't matter. LSU is 7-0 in the SEC and it doesn't matter what the offense looks like if a team doesn't have the talent or plan to stop you. A win is a win and that is all that really matters at the present.

Nice post by someone that must understand basketball... Any guys understand that offenses sometimes don't "look good" because the other team might be playing some good defense.... Ever think of that one... Players are much longer these days and the game is much more physical..(see Auburn game)That stat shows that we actually do have a good offense and not a bunch of one on one players...
