Who can honestly say that they didnt think the ENTIRE offense struggled this past season? From the O-Line, to the Receivers, to the QB play.... Until Matt Flynn starts a game... The O-line played great, the team played harder, and guess what? there were NO dropped balls. How does one explain that? Coincidence? How many times did LSU shoot itself in the foot this year on offense? how many sacks did JR take that he didnt have to, where he had a outroute open, or simply could have thrown it away.? (cause we all know it seems like he's dragging a cow behind him when he runs) I just don't see how a lot of people are defending JR's play NOW, when there was much complaining about it throughout the year.
Yes. You know - the coincidence that it came after an embarassing loss. The coincidence that it came after 3 weeks of rest. The coincidence that it was a bowl game where our seniors had a lot to prove. The coincidence that injuries (outside of Russell) were not a factor. Funny little things like that.
Look, I'm not denying that Flynn has an impact on our team. He appears to be a very good leader. He's got impressive scrambling ability & throws a pretty nice pass. But for people to imply our team's improvement in the bowl game is soley because of him is ridiculous. If that were the case, then he would have done more against Georgia in the SECCG. There were a lot of reasons that the offense struggled all season. Are ya'll telling me that it is entirely because JaMarcus was the QB? That's why receivers drop easy - & I do mean easy - passes? Is that why the Oline struggled to block? Is that why Alley Broussard tore his ACL & Addai hobbled his ankle - giving Russell almost no running game? Ask yourself this, could Flynn have done just as good of a job given these circumstances? Nobody knows - Flynn has never dealt with them. That's the point. JaMarcus is proven. Flynn might be better, but that opinion is based off of ONE game.
per cfn.com: "Alright, you're Les Miles, what's your QB depth chart for next fall? Do you just open it up in the spring and see what happens? How do you handle Perrilloux's minutes? Are they more loaded at QB than anyone in the country right now? Thanks. – Adam K. A: I think you have to open it up. No one’s a bigger JaMarcus Russell fan than I am. With that arm, I truly believe he has NFL star potential with the right coaching. However, you’re doing the team, the program, and the fans a disservice by not making sure the best guy is out there. If Miles and the coaching staff believe Flynn or Perrilloux will lead the team to more wins, then they should make that call. That should always go for all positions."
You got it right, but it's more like this. JR JR with a broken arm JR with a broken leg JR with a broken arm and a broken leg MF RP You guys are nuts. Never before has a more talented quarterback wore a Tiger uniform, and some of you don't even think he should start. Well don't worry if you do not like him, after this season he will be gone the the big leagues, collecting his check for being a 1st round draft pick. Of course I'm exagerating about the broken bone stuff, just trying to make the point of how much above par JR is. BY the way, I think the other two could be great as well, but JR is clearly the cream of the crop right now.
I was going to let this thread die and sink to the bottom of the lake but I must say that it seems to be 50/50 a few goofballs even said that RP should start. We all know that JR had last year and the year b/4 to win a NC but couldn’t and now its MF's turn. So lets just sit back and root for Matt ok? I will be the first to call for his head if he stinks it up but he does deserve a chance to start. END OF DISCUSSION. Now we can let this thread sink down into the icy cold depths of Lake Den.
I've recently heard that Flynn was definitely going to transfer before the Peach Bowl & that now if he doesn't win the starting job he wants to transfer (Vanderbilt is what I heard he is thinking about). He's still going to wait & see what happens in Spring, so anything could happen by then. Maybe he'll get the starting job, or maybe the coaches will convince him to stay. I've also heard that Ryan Perrilloux looked better than both of them during practice the 2nd half of the season last year, but that it was because he didn't have to prepare for games.
Well, Jamarcus took us to a 10-2 record, only one game away from our NC year. So he didn't do too badly. You can't just give someone else the job because we didn't win a freakin national championship.
