You saw the 2nd best QB in the SEC struggle ALL YEAR????? I dont think you were watching the same LSU games as everyone else.

Also, you talk like JR was ALWAYS making stupid throws. He threw 9 INT's all year, and had a completion% over 60%. That sounds pretty good to me.

    FINALLY.

I don't understand why most people can't understand that we still woulda won BIG in the Peach Bowl if JR was the QB.

Other than the Eazy E posts, this is the best post of the thread.

Competition never hurt any true competitor, and the coaches are the ones that see these guys in practice and know what they can do.

Well, I'm pretty sure Russell pulled that Arizona St. game out, at least.

i think it'll be JR, he has proven himself no doubt, He is the QB to lead us in the 4th quarter, he's done it numerous amounts of times, you all know that.
We've only seen Flynn in mop up duty in the 4th quarter. Why go with someone new when you have a proven quarterback that WILL lead you back in the 4th quarter, Flynn has yet to prove himself in a tight game and thats why JR should start. He did it all of last year and a couple times the year before.
I got nothing against Flynn but JR's only lost what 2-3 games as a starter in 2 years and his record is probably very similar to what Matt Maucks was when he was here. And if a guy is that good at winnning, why bother changing just because of what Flynn did in ONE game.

I can't help but laugh every time I see this type of comment. Russell "struggled" his way to a tie for 2nd (w/Leak) in the SEC in passing efficiency. Only Shockley had a better rating. Two potential NFL QB draftees, Croyle and Cutler, were behind Russell.

No doubt that Russell has room for improvement, but to suggest he "struggled all year" is just crap...

Yea, people act like Flynn is just a natural leader that the team plays better for, yet completely ignore Russel's winning percentage as a starter.

    Here's what everyone is missing:

Everyone is talking about how Flynn wouldnt been able to make such clutch throws at bama and ASU..

    BUT!

who's to say he would have even HAD to make those throws?

Who's to say we would not have been WINNING, and not have to make a "come from behind" drive. does anyone else see this?

yes, I know JR's completion percentage is great, but I just can't help to think that we would have done "better" than just winning in a lot of those games.

How many times did the offense go three and out with JR running the offense?

How many three and outs with Flynn at the helm?

How many dropped balls with JR throwing?

    How many with flynn throwing?

these are honest questions that I think fans should take into consideration.

We should all keep these questions in mind as we decide who to put in the game. Personally, I think Perrilloux offers more weapons, but that's only because I like to run the option on NCAA '06.

Maybe he could, maybe he couldn't. Nobody knows, because he's never been in a position to do it.

A team is going to have some close games. We won't dominate every opponent, so at some point, a QB would have to make a come back. Would we have had to against Bama etc with Flynn at QB? Maybe. Maybe the offense would have looked great, maybe we would have had the same struggles. I accept that there's that possability of better success under Flynn, but it's far from the certainty some fans here make it out to be.
