Mark Roman could bring the lumber from the safety spot. But Clarence LeBlanc was the hardest hitter I remember.
Charles Alexander - LSU running back - lower his helmet & met head on with a UFlorida stud LB ( I think ). You can hear the noise of helmets clashing when the collision occurs & both went down. The Florida kid had the neck injury. If anyone remembers the event, please stage the name of the Florida player. I think he is an all SEC prev year & pre all American player.
sentimental pick: tommy banks, fullback... he blew people up and that whole defensive line from 03... dline guys shouldnt get hard hits, but they used to get after the qb... remember lavalais creaming cadilac in 03?
Wow, this is a cool thread... Clarence LeBlanc, Mark Roman, Norman LeJune, Bradie James, Trev Faulk (for a small guy, he was pretty fierce), LaRon Landry, Jack Hunt was slow-ish but hit pretty well, Lionel Turner, and from what I've been told, Tommy Casanova hit pretty hard for a CB. I remember when we played Alabama in '03. To this day and never before have I seen a QB eat more dirt. Croyle hit the ground more times than I could count, and I honestly felt sorry for him. That whole line, especially Spears and Lavalais were all over that QB the whole entire game!
