I clicked on an espn.com link called, the 05' "herbei's" and for team of the year he has USC...could he be any more on their nuts? I mean... it's getting sick... he also picked reggie bush as player of the year, when it seemed quite obvious that vince young was a better player... now if my memory serves me correctly... they lost the nat'l championship after having one of the weaker schedules in the country.... check this out... his description of the pick: "Team of the year: USC Trojans It's hard to not go with USC. Outside of the obvious reasons (ranked No.1 and a 34-game win streak heading into the Rose Bowl), what I've really appreciated about this team is every week it had to take its opponent's best shot, and a few times those best shots put the Trojans against the wall and force them into some a couple of late come-from-behind wins, especially against Notre Dame and Fresno State. Even trailing Oregon and Arizona State at halftime and finding ways to come back and win really showed the heart and character of the Trojan football team. Not only was USC having to compete and take somebody's best shot, but the Trojans never seemed to panic when they were trailing. For them to get through that adversity and maintain this perfect run is pretty special. "
That is pretty sad, USC had a great team and a great run but Texas was clearly the team of the year and has the glass to prove it. Never underestimate the media's ability to suck up to large markets. I don't like Texas but they are the team and Young may very well be the player.
yeah. nor would a truly great team have lost on the biggest possible stage with everything on the table. usc are losers. chumps. one hit wonders.
It's debatable, certainly not obvious. He definitly had a better Rose Bowl, not necessarily a better year. It's difficult to compare their bowl performances considering Bush was going up against a MUCH better defense.
You just said a mouth full. It is all about ratings and dollars. Look at the NFL with its attempts to put another team in LA.
there is no need to analyze anything or write a column or think about who is the team of the year. you look around, see who has the crystal trophy, and thats it. team of the year.
Yep. It is sickening. It has been for a long time. That's why ignore all of the sports journalists' opinions on just about everything.
