The Tigers are ranked #16 in the latest Sagarin ratings (1/19/06). The next highest rated team with as many losses as LSU is Arizona at #37. I hope Brady keeps scheduling tough pre-conference games in the coming years. It seems to be the best preparation for the difficult SEC slugfests. When's the last time LSU won their first 2 SEC road games?
Too bad the committee doesn't look at the sagarin ratings. First 2-0 road start since 94-95. Also first 3-0 start since that same year. Let's hope the results aren't the same as they ended up 6-10 that year. No question that the tougher OOC schedule helps. I hope this continues in the coming years.
I agree about the tough OOC schedule. Now, the committee may not look at Sagarin ratings, but shouldn't our RPI be similar? Does anyone know a good place to look at a simulated RPI? Does the RPI formula have any kind of documentation, or is it secret like most of the football computer formulas?
I agree with the schedule too. It's apparent that it made this young team ready for SEC play. We have a great opportunity this year and I'm even more curious what noise LSU can make in the tourny this year and all season next year.
College RPI ... click on RPI Formula (it wouldn't let me provide a direct link) on the left and it will answer most of your questions. That site doesn't update regularly, so I use Warren Nolan's RPI. This site updates daily and I don't see any big differences from College RPI.
RPI is 34-ish, according to Warren Nolan.com. That projects to an 8-9 seed. Good thing there's time to continue to improve on the seeding. Dallas is a 1st-2nd round site this year. That would be awesome, IMO.
Yes it was. Just goes to show how one injury in bball can ruin a season. Lloreda comes to mind as I type this.
