I wouldn't doubt it, but I haven't been able to see him play much. Alex Smith on the other hand. Whew, is he bad! He threw his first touch down in the last game of the season against the Texans. Ryan Leaf had more TDs as a rookie (more picks too). So Alex Smith and J.P. Losman might suck equally.

if that ends up being true, i have a lot of crow to swallow since i thought he'd be pretty solid.

id prefer my 'urban meyer being a bust' crow instead. that way its a win/win for me. if he sucks so does UF but i just dont think so.

That is a great question, and I look forward to seeing the answer, though it's going to be gruesome. I'm happy to say that I didn't like either of them coming out of college, so that's a nice change. I'm normally remarkably bad predicting good and bad NFL QBs in the draft.

Alex Smith is a product of a system that worked in the Mountain Hick League. He looked TERRIBLE every time I saw him this last year. I'll take my crow like a man but I just dont see this guy making it. Same reason I dont see C.U.M. making it. His offense sucks and the players in it are NOT prepared for the NFL. If Smith does happen to make it he will go through a long development period though.

We'll see. I can't say I'd be completely suprised if he went in the 7th round, but if I were going to guess - I'd say he won't be drafted.

bennie will be a free agent, but he will get tryouts.. he is similar in size and speed to Leonard Scott (old zachary team mate) from Tennessee... Track guy who also played football.. he got a tryout with the Steelers but couldnt stay healthy.. now he is a favorite to represent the U.S. in the 08 olympics... Bennie will give football a shot.. if he can make a team and get any kind of contract, he'll take the money.. if not, he will stick to track..

...and, depending on the position, sometimes it's the *type* of speed you have that's important.
Plenty of RBs, for example, run 4.5 (or under) forty times, but it's the ones with exceptional lateral movement/"quick feet" that are a cut above. Those guys can hit seams or holes quickly, which can make all the difference on some plays.

Well, just a few more hours away from learning if LaRon will be back for his senior year. Isn't the deadline to enter the draft the 15th??

Yes, he has to announce his decision today. One thing I have noticed over the last day or so is that several mocks have him listed in the first round now that did not even have him listed as going before. I don;t know if they know someting we don't, or are just speculating.

NFLdraftcountdown.com has him the highest at #19 to the Chargers.

We'll know for sure today. I think they have to declare by 6 pm. Not sure about the time though.
