Yeah, guys, the Bama coaches were so high on Wilson that they asked him to greyshirt when he committed to Bama. Not exactly what you do with your best recruits.

Wilson might turn out to be great, but I am not convinced. I think his stats are a result of being part of the best high school program in the state, not vice versa.

Yeah just because you're a player at Hoover, they spot you stats so you'll look good. :dis: You have to earn those stats...Just because he was playing for the best program in Alabama, doesn't mean they played a weak schedule. Prattville, Daphne, Hillcrest (then)...He put up big numbers against some stiff competition...

Btw, he also plays baseball...think about it.

You have misunderstood the greyshirt philosophy. Wilson, one of the few players who could pay his way through his first semester, was offered the greyshirt because the program is rebuilding. His parents, and Wilson himself were very much behind the decision because it was for the "good of the program." (yes, that's a quote)

That greyshirt has allowed him to work out with the program during our bowl practice last year, spring, summer and of course this past season.

This philosophy has been used with quite a few recruits over the past few years and been used wisely. It's allowed the staff to get the numbers back a bit quicker than the normal 25 initials would have allowed.

Now that this has been said not only have I seen JPW on several occasions I've heard from players on the defense and the staff as to what they expect out of him. Like it or not, you have to admit we fielded a good secondary this past season and to a man they've said that he possesses a lot of talents that Brodie had, but to a greater extent. IE: Passing while rolling out of the pocket, a better touch on the long ball, etc.

He's young, yes. But, he's got a great grasp on the offense right now but most importantly he's garnered the respect of the staff and the rest of the team.

RedElephants...I don't get your comment on him playing baseball also. It's not something Shula is a big fan of and one of the areas that Bart Smelley (dad) and Shula didn't see eye to eye on.

References Bobby Petrino and Jetgate. As quick as Tubs became popular, he could lose his appeal.

Do not speak for me.......I will do that myself thank you. I am a Bama fan and I have a lot of respect for LSU. It just amazes me at how much barners think they know about Bama Fans.

And as far as schedules go.....don't act like the barn has never had an easy schedule.
