yea just like losing mauck didn't hurt us. losing brodie will hurt i can promise that.

If bama is banking on freshman to come in and be superstars then they are in trouble.

No offense, RedElephants, but ANY time you are EXCITED about a true-freshman STARTING for you, that's not exactly a sign of domination and depth.....ESPECIALLY on the O-line.

It's a bit different to have a true freshman running back or wide receiver, where their biggest adjustment is learning that they won't break for a 60+ yard TD every time they touch the ball. As an O-lineman, they are required to read various blitzes--some that they have never even seen before at the high school level, they have to go against some defensive linemen that are just as big (if not bigger), but have a lot more experience and some are stronger.

So if you get the number 1 offensive lineman in the nation, more power to you. If he starts, and plays well, then it paid off for you...but the odds are seriously stacked against you that a true-freshman is gonna improve your offensive production considerably.

I wasn't basing that just on Andre Smith. I know that our offense wasn't good this year. Our line was made up of 3 freshmen, 4 sophomore WR's, 3 true-freshmen TE's...and our veteran (juniors) players in the backfield--Darby, Castille, and McClain.

Those OLmen will only get better. Anyone who has ANY football smarts knows that experience only makes you better. Starting as a true freshman only makes you better in the long-run.

Our WR's really started to come up late into the year. Brown (fastest player on the roster, including Prothro) had super games against UF, USC, and TT while Hall took over as the go-to guy when Prothro went down(Btw, word around the campfire is that Prothro will medical redshirt for '06 and come back in '07). Also, JC transfer and best WR in the state of Alabama in '04, Nakita Stover will be in crimson next year.

Our TE's showed potential but they were freshman, which goes back to my first point...They have big time game exp. already--which comes in handy for the future.

Our QB for next year John Parker Wilson has a year and a half of the offense under his belt. Although he doesn't have much game time, he has shown to play well while in the game. I doubt it's going to be much of a drop-off at the QB spot.

Castille, McClain, and especially Darby have proven themselves already. You guys know that Darby is a good back and will probably have a better senior year. If not, take your purple and gold glasses off and recognize a great player, Bama or not.

My prediction is that Bama will lose those close games they managed to win this season past season. That may not be a losing record, but it will be no more than 7 wins.

Nakita Stover...Remember that name--you'll be hearing it a lot next year.

Ok so yeah that's about to get old now. It's about the same as me giving you guys hell about Jai Eugene--I dont.

Recruits come and go...Bama's future isn't based on one recruit from Florida. Everyone knows that Bama's OL was the soft spot this year. That is what has been stressed this recruiting year. We've gone out and got some damn good OLmen. John Parker Wilson isn't a slouch...Just look at his offfensive numbers from HS. He led Hoover High (Best FB program in Alabama) to 2 straight state titles.

Btw, JPW's HS numbers at Hoover High (6A)
    As a senior (2003):
    314 for 467; 3821 yards; 40 TDs

    Career (2001-03):
    615 for 978; 8170 yards; 78 TDs
