1. what about those that have been coaching for 12 years and have 5 State championships under their belt and a 80% win /lose record?

Cant be that same athlete helping every year.
  2. I meant helping them get the SEC job, not winning in high school.
  3. That's a good comparison. What's interesting about that note is the record Press had after Pete left. Was he actually ready for coaching at that level?
  4. HOGLAND REPORT:

Guys, this is a desperation hire on the hill. There are so many money people that want Nutt gone, that the final straw broke when Mustain decommitted. The loss of one of the best, if not THE best QB in the nation, who by the way, lives 10 miles from campus was almost enough to finish him. Frank Broyles (AD) and Jim Lindsey (Builder of crappy apartments, member of the Board of Trustees) were basically the only two power players who wanted to keep Nutt. Houston Dale held on to the O.C. position until the last gasp, and it almost cost him. After Cutcliff turned the Hogs down, and David Lee indicated he wasn't interested, chaos ensued.
I have seen Springdale play, and Malzahn is a hell of a coach, but I agree with most of you the jump up to O.C. in the SEC will be a tough one. On the other hand, the more we can keep Nutt out of the game the better. His teams run a no-huddle offense a lot, but they run from their spread quite a bit. I think you will see an improved team next year, with a solid defense and a more balanced offense. Reggie Herring is the real deal as D.C.
Basically what this hire means is that next year it's put up or shut up time for Nutt. I think a minimum of 8 wins to keep his job. Along with most Hog fans, I wanted Butch Davis this year, and am disgusted to see the nail-biting fool spasming on the sidelines again. That said, if Malzahn is as talanted as the people close to him think, we might have something within the next couple of years, whether or not we get Mitch Mustain.
  5. I am no football Guru, BUT, I believe very strongly that Arky will have a winning season next year, AND be an improved team.

Gus Malzahn will be OK . . . I would be surprised if he turns out to be a bust. I'm not convinced that H. Nutt is as dumb as disgruntled Hog fans think, but I believe that having Malzahn as OC will help your offense.

  7. I currently am a student at LSU but i am from Little Rock and had the fortune of being on a Little Rock Central team that beat Malzahn and Mustain's Springdale teams handily two years in a row. The Central Defense was as close to SEC speed as Gus malzahn has ever seen (Kevin Thornton 4 star safety, Freddie Fairchild Freshman all american LB, Fred Bledsoe 4 star D lineman) and his offense against that kind of speed was not just stopped, it looked awful. The second time, his gameplan resembled that of someone who had never watched a lick of tape. I am interested to see how his offense will stack up against the speed of the sec, and i cant say that i expect him to do well from what i have seen. Its even less encouraging watching Urban Myth's offense struggle because both him and malzahn use the spread alot and Urban has actually had success at the college level.
  8. Let Urban find a QB that fits, it will work. I hardly call what Utah did in 2004 a "little success", they
    easily pounded everyone they played.
  9. which included a long list of nobodies.
  10. Yeah, they really pounded North Dakota Tech for their quality win.
