I'm assuming (and you know what that means) that JR will not be available to play in the Peach Bowl or should be held out sincethe Peach Bowl has no real meaning. I also assume that many, like myself, would like to see what Matt Flynn can do given a chance to prepare for and play an entire game against a good opponent. I have been impressed with his accuracy throwing the ball, pocket presence and his running ability. Granted he doesn't have JR's arm strength but I think he brings a lot to the table. If he has a great game against Miami, how do you think this affects the QB situation for next year or is JR a lock as the starting QB in 2006?
Depending on how his off season (possibly) surgery goes, l think he starts for sure if healthy. lf not, i really think RP may trump Matt Flynn for the starting job. But in all likely hood JR will be our man till he leaves.
If healthy JR should be a go no matter what, it will be a significant learning experience for him against a team like Miami
I haven't read anything that addresses the severity of JR's injury. I would think if he's healthy, he'll start the bowl game.
If JR does have to have surgery, that could push back his development over summer & allow Flynn to take over the starting position. Hopefully this is not the case, and as long as it isn't I expect JR to be the man next season. Even if it is, it should be a close battle between them 2. Anyone thinking that Ryan Perrilloux will start before either Flynn or Russell is basing it off of what he did in High school. In practices, both Flynn & Russell have shown the be the better QBs at the moment. It's Russell's job to lose & Flynn's job to take over.
I thought about that last night when Flynn was running the ball. At that point in the game I don't think we would have seen RP.
We won't burn RP's redshirt for a Bowl game... i think we still have Welker, he would get the ball... im sure we have someone else on the team that could play QB
