They play a better schedule, and they lost on the last play against Michigan. Oh yeah, Joe Pa is old as dirt.
Right now, this is the main factor. If we win out (through the SECCG), PSU will be behind us. Miami needs to lose as does one of the pre-ordained.
You know what, i'm not getting the better schedule part. The SEC has the most teams currently in the top 25 in the BCS (6), of which LSU is 3-0 against, with a Georgia game most likely forthcoming. Penn State's out of Big Ten schedule included S. Florida (who may be making a BCS push, but are still only 5-3), Cincy, Central Michigan. Yet, they are a consensus #3 in the computer polls and LSU is almost a consensus #8. What am I missing?
Penn State is have devil's luck with their schedule. Cincinnati is hovering around .500, Central Michigan is at 5-5, and South Florida is pushing for the Big East title. On top of that, the two teams they missed in the Big Ten are Iowa and Indiana. Indiana obviously would have drug down their SOS, but even Iowa is not as good this year as they were supposed to be. Compare that with LSU. LSU would have had no problems with the three teams I listed above, but our OOC happens to suck this year. North Texas usually is a Sun Belt winner, and Arizona State was suppose to be one of the better Pac 10 teams this year. Instead, they've both been dreadful. Add to that us missing both Georgia and South Carolina from the east, and Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State being awful this year, and our SOS sucks. Just not our year.
Miami's game against VT was, in many ways, similar to LSU going into Bama. Miami went in, seized the opportunity, and dominated VT... pollsters get impressed by that. Also, had Tennessee been able to post some wins after winning at LSU, it would have done less damage... their fall is killing you guys in the computers. Finally, PSU's loss was on the road ... two points... and to a New Year's Day bowl bound team.... PSU may drop some points if OSU loses to Michigan. Man, that Tennessee game was a killer for you.
agreed! In the Colley Matrix Poll if you remove Tenn Lost and add LSU win over Tenn... LSU is bumped from #8 to #4.
Understatement of the year. It was also how we lost that one. I still can't get the halftime comments by Miles out of my head: Paraphrasing... Reporter: Your team is looking great in the first half. What will you try to improve? Miles: If you think that half was great, wait until the next half.
