horrible reputations. This was arguably the biggest SEC game in years. Huge impact kinda game, emotions running somewhere around the stratosphere. I haven't heard of anything negative and have seen many examples of fans conducting themselves with class and dignity. I hope that the rest of the league was taking notes.
You must not have seen the stories about the cups, ice and liquor bottles thrown at our players in the endzone. The same thrown at our band. And the T-Shirts making light of Hurricane Katrina, and saying it should have wiped out BR. Also stories of drinks dumbed on fans departing BD stadium after the TD for simply leaving. Most have these have come from Bama fans who witnessed it.
I only had a handful of bad experiences with Bama fans but most of the were rather nice people. I had countless Tide fans come up to me and congratulate us on the win and a well played game. I enjoyed my visit but I was rather disapointed that I didn't get taunted very much before and during the game.
I meet a Bama fan in Arby's who made some stupid remark about the Hurricane. A few of my Tide friends were rather pissed off about that remark but that is real low class.
i think it was mostly students (like always), but there are alot of stories that i have seen or down right classless behavior. i just hope that this shows the SEC that these problems aren't solely associated with LSU.
As official spokesman for The Great State of Alabama, I do hereby apologize for the citizenry that considers a six-pack and a bug zapper to be first date entertainment.
If we could get enough police presence around the fans during these SEC sports events, we could reduce the incidents. No matter how drunk a fan might be, he's going to behave if he sees a police officer in the vicinity. Once a few arrests get into the local news, the drunk fans will behave.
