Wasn't that 2003 when we played OU? Why then, in the advocate, AP writer Ed Shearer said that hasn't happened since Cannon's run in '59. I'm assuming he meant SEC top five teams...

I also like how he claims that LSU is currently out of the SEC West title picture... Sometimes I wonder why I want to be a sportswriter... these guys are... (insert adjective of choice.)

He meant regular season games. LSU simply must win out to win the SEC West.

I know why you want to be one:

The same reason I want to be one: you read the articles and understand just how much better of a job you can do, compared to them

He came close. The actual stat is that the last time Alabama played LSU, where both were in the top 5 in the nation was Halloween and Cannon's run and LSU won 7-3.

Wow...not to be an a-hole or anything, but that play was against Ole Miss, not Alabama.

It's only considered one of the biggest plays in LSU sports history.

As for the last time both LSU and Alabama were in the top 5 and played each other in the regular season, my guess would be a Bert Jones-era game, but that's purely a guess. The last time LSU participated in a game involving two top 5 teams: a mere two months ago against Tennessee.

Wow, from top 5 to 3-5 in two months. Pretty pathetic, Vols fan, pretty pathetic.

Tennessee was #9 in USA Today and #10 in the AP when they came to Baton Rouge. LSU was #4 in both polls.

LSU & Ole Miss were 1 & 2 in 1959 when they played.
