For those who care:

The term Plainsmen comes from the fact that the Appalachian Mts. end just outside Auburn and there is nothing but plains between Auburn and the gulf coast. Hence the first line of our Alma Mater....."On the rolling plains of Dixie, neath a sunkist sky...."

There are two vewry different stories about how War Eagle became our yell. I won't bore you with either but will note that several schools have a mascot and a yell, etc Alabama's mascot is the Red Elephant (ever seen a red elephant), their nickname is the Crimson Tide, and their yell is Roll Tide. Ga. Tech uses the Yellow Jackets and Wrambling Wrecks. And so it goes.

Honestly, thank you for clearing that up for me. I have always been confused about that. I have asked the Auburn fan I work with what's up with it, taunting him a little, but he could never answer, so I just kept giving him s#$% over it.
