I agree with Calco, especially #4. The way to beat Florida this year is to knock around Leak like we did Jay Jay Cutler. The key to rattling the QB is first, a good four man rush by our good D-line and secondly good man coverage on Chad Jackson and Dallas Baker when we bring a safety or corner on the blitz. We can't lay off these recievers like we did in the Tenn game. Leak is superior to Clausen and a few completions will give him confidence like he had as a Freshman in the 2003 game.
IF LSU doesnt post 30 turnovers again.. it will be a blowout... if they do, it will be close... if they have turnovers and play that soft zone again.. HELLOOOOOOO Indy Bowl!
i think we will go after leak and UF knows that and is planning for it now. the keys will be: -do we keep going after him after he burns us a time or two -tackling. if they decide to hit a lot of short routes, there will be many opportunities for UF to turn 7 yd catches into 40 yd gains. i hope we keep hitting him even if we get down big, push them into mistakes. i'd imagine they will come with screens, misdirections, draws and probably try to hit some out-and-up routes.
I believe the team with the most points on the scoreboard at the end of the game will win... On that note.... We lost to Vandy.... After the game had ended the final score on the board was Vandy - 40 LSU - 6... (It was also 4th and 4 for Vandy on their own 40 at that point...) There you have it.... We lost that game..
Yes Yes Yes!!!!!!!!! If you give him all day to throw he will burn you more than just a time or two. When you blitz often the O will have some positive plays, but hopefully a good rush creates more negative plays for them that positive plays. If LSU let's Leak sit back there and get comfortable he will pick us apart(see Clausen).
Blitzing Leak was what got us beat in 03. The db's and lb's blitzed and the rb's snuck out of the backfield and scored. If I recall, the way Bama beat them was a strong d-line rush and everybody else dropping off into pass coverage with one or 2 lb's playing close against the possible run. Bama's d-line dominated their o-line. We should be able to do the same.
i'm getting that same feeling I had when LSU beat the #1 ranked Gators. That big game feeling. Georgia in '03 had that same feel too.
What got us beat in '03 was ZERO points scored by our offense. Tons of 3 and outs put Florida playing on our side of the field most of the day, inept offense by LSU was Florida's key to victory not the LSU blitz.
All the Gator fans are thinking that Leak will pick apart the LSU defensive backfield and that Bama will end up winning the SEC West. I will hold my breath until Pellini proves to me that he has no fear of the Florida running attack and plays tight against the Florida receivers. If so, Leak will end up continuously getting hammered with the marginal Oline that Florida can field.
