What "pisses" me off the most is that LSU has the MOST DEPTH IN THE COUNTRY. We also have some of the best talent in the country. If you can't win with this talent, you can't win at all. Why then does our coaching staff try to coach like we have one and two star recruits? This ain't OSU coach Miles. This is LSU. Four and Five star recruits are the norm... you can't coach the same... QUit being so conservative... Score every time you get the ball. You know (as of now) Pellini can't stop the short pass, so ~S~C~O~R~E~ ~E~V~E~R~Y~ ~T~I~M~E~ ~Y~O~U~ ~H~A~V~E~ ~T~H~E~ ~B~A~L~L~ God knows we have the offensive capabilities.... Man, you would think we have rookie coaches... C'mon guys.. these are future Sunday f-ball players... coach them as such
The notion that LSU has the most depth in the country is laughable. Sure, we've had some fine recruiting classes, and probably do have a lot of talent. But guess what, the same can be said about probably 15 programs. I love LSU and the purple and gold glasses, but it's foolish to not remember that there are a helluva lot more programs (many with much better traditions) trying to do the same damned thing we are. Win. And for the record, no, I'm not happy with the coaching. And no, I'm not happy with the players. I'm also realistic, and curious to see where we go from here.
this happened all the time (with saban). getting little pressure WITH SPEARS. oh, btw, we got pressure on the qb last night. probably about as much as you can expect against a big time OL and a qb that can make decisions
Player's execution of plays - It could've been better and yes they made some mistakes, blew coverages, etc. Fortunately Ainge was off and the WR's dropped some passes. But execution on the field isn't always the player's doing. The execution has to be drilled into them and for mental and basic errors on the field I will put some blame on coaching. This defense is not as complicated as Sabans but we are seeing more mistakes than under Saban. For that I blame in part for coaching. Yes some players made mistakes while making instant decisions but in the 2nd half the coaching calls were full of mistakes. The play calling on O and D were extreme conservatism, they were decided over and over again play after play. The players in the 2nd half had no control over play calling but the coaches continually made the same mistakes time and time again and the defensive scheme in the 2nd half was a repeat of the mistakes that Pelini made at ASU. So much for learning lessons. Sure players get some blame for not executing properly but I blame poor execution on poor training. It goes both ways coach. I'm afraid the Les is too proud to admit mistakes in public but also to himself. I can understand a coach not admitting in public, to a degree.
Sure, the players were on the field and they made mistakes, plenty of them. But, remember, they can't do what they haven't been taught. What I saw was a total lack of technique in the defensive backfield on the part of those who didn't play last year, except for Daniel Francis. Jesse Daniels and LaRon Landry played well, but that's probably attributable to what they learned from Saban and his staff. Let's face it, guys, when your db's are playing as far off the receivers as ours were, the receivers start every play with a serious advantage - making it almost impossible to cover no matter how quick and fast the db. Add into the mix the fact that Tennessee has good receivers and clusterf*** we saw Monday night is the inevitable result. Everybody - but Pelini and his colleagues - knew the Vols were coming with the short passing game in the second half, but NO adjustments were made to counter it. You can't call that player error.
no disprespect to dallas and clair but i think the consensus when saban's team's played badly was due mostly to the players and execution. to the o-line missing blocks, to the ineffective QB play to receivers dropping balls. how often was saban's scheme questioned esp. the defense. and when it was, it was in his early years when he didn't have his personel yet. miles isn't putting his players in a position to win and the players are confused and frustrated. all of this worries me.
I know where a real fire and brimstone, let's kick their ass type of coach can be found........ :hihi: :hihi: CHEAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! :geauxtige
i dont think lsu played a db that wasnt coached by saban last year. so i dont think its poor technique. it either the system, poor execution or the opponent. i think its foolish to think it anything but a combination of all three. everyone is acting like lsu's D under saban was always great. those D's had some pretty crappy games against much worse teams.
