Re: UT Threatened to Forfiet if Game Not Moved The correct decision was to postpone. No one here has said that the game shouldn't be postponed. UT looks bad here for their comments AFTER it had been postponed. Like we would have held the game anyway. Phat Phil is a phraidy cat.
Re: UT Threatened to Forfiet if Game Not Moved In that light, you are correct. I agree that we are smart enough to have not held the game Saturday. Therefore, for TN to still complain about it after the game was moved, is really unneccesary. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
Re: UT Threatened to Forfiet if Game Not Moved Postponing is smart, but it would have been best to try on Sunday rather than Monday for obvious reasons
Re: UT Threatened to Forfiet if Game Not Moved No one here wants unsafe conditions for our players, fans, etc. We are all just FED UP with Phat Phil doing EVERYTHING HE CAN to cheese out of this game. I.E. :"We should play the game at the end of the season" etc... ...and now this latest crying trying to make us look bad for STILL trying to play this game! I can hear the moralizing from Boxville now: "Those crazy people want to put all of our lives in danger by making us play them in the middle of a hurricane!!!! What are they, STUPID!!!!! We'll just forfeit to save the innocent lives of our student-inmate-athletes. We can be heroes!!!!!!!" It's just getting SO PREDICTABLE. I HOPE WE PUMMEL THOSE WHINY BASTIDS.
Re: UT Threatened to Forfiet if Game Not Moved Phatimus seems to have idea that the game should be played at the end of the season. He must think UT will get better and actually have a chance of escaping an ass whoopin' at the end of the year. Obviously, Fulmer is delusional from copious amounts of jelly donuts.
Re: UT Threatened to Forfiet if Game Not Moved Allow me to be the token UT fan and have at me as you will. As a lifelong Vol fan, with no animosity towards LSU I might add, I would have been in favor of forfeiting a Saturday game in Baton Rouge. I have had the honor of attending a Saturday night game in Tiger stadium, and it has few rivals. It is truly one of the greatest venues for college football. Now, that being said, when LSU officials speak of "logistical concerns" after the game is moved by the SEC, it begs the question - what about flying into and out of a hurricane. I have no desire to see anyone make a trip that risky. I hope the comments made here about being smart enough not to play are true. But the attributed quote to LSU brass is "we would have greatly preferred to play during the weekend" is all fine and good when your team is not the one having to fly in and out in harms way. For the record, UT did not say that they would forfeit after the change was made. The comment was made to the SEC office during the discussion about the safety of playing on Saturday and only released after the fact. As I said, I know I am a stranger here, and fully expect to get ripped apart. But, assume that Knoxville is being threatened by some dangerous weather next year, and tell me that you would want your Tigers traveling in it. LEE
Re: UT Threatened to Forfiet if Game Not Moved Yep, ole Tennessee Phats wanted the game moved to the end of the year; that's why he's crying so bad. After Monday, their season is shot and they're looking the Peach Bowl dead in the eye, and it ain't even October yet. Serves him right for stabbing Johnny Majors in the back and taking his job when he was down and out. Make no mistake about it, Phatty's motivation is football.
Re: UT Threatened to Forfiet if Game Not Moved Tennessee is the most hated team in the SEC for a reason.
Re: UT Threatened to Forfiet if Game Not Moved That's it, I'm not giving one more cent to the Appalachain Dental Relief fund.
