According to him, yes, for our game vs. ASU and the Orange Bowl when he was some other team's 3rd 'co-defensive coordinator'.

Wonder if he was fired right off when he burned his very first basket of fries?

 

Absolutely Not! However, this guy can't continue to force our secondary to play zone & soft coverage giving up unbelievable yardage & TOP. He seems like a hard headed coach and one who obviously never made any gametime adjustments to stop Keller. I'm not so sure he'll change coverages this next week for Tennessee & feel Tennessee could beat LSU if he doesn't. If he coaches against Tennessee like he did against ASU and fails to make the correct adjustments and play a four man rush all game, LSU will get their asses whipped.

I have a legit question to ask you VT. Everyone here has been so quick on the uptake to say we should just fire Bo, but not a single one of you has accounted for the consequences.

This of course is a hypothetical situation of course, because i would hate to think LSU would be stupid enough to fire a major coordnator on our team after only two game in the middle of the season, but lets say he does get blown up again against UT and we fire him (neither will happen in any situation, but hypotheticaly). Who do you think we get to replace him midseaon? I am sure that their are plenty of talented DC's out there just dying to quit their job midseason and take up another job of the same poition (no upgrade just latteral moving). I can image THAT conversation.

Skip: Hi Mr Really Good Definsive Coordnator. Im Skip Bertman over at LSU.

Really good DC: Hi Skip.

Skip: Look, we just fired our Definsive Coordnator and we are looking for a new one. You are one of our choices.

Really good DC: Wow, i honored. One question though. Haven't you guys only played 2 games?

Skip: Yes, but some fans on a message board E-Mailed me and told me that i had to fire him and get a new one midseason.

Really good DC: Understandable. Tell me why i should take this job.

Skip: If you come here we can offer you the same position with asmall raise. You will expected to take over a defense midseason. This includes taking everything they have been working on this entire offseason and throwing it out the window. You have to impliment your system within a week so we can be ready for our next opponent, A top (5,10,15 pending their next football game) conference rival Florida, who we beat in a dramatic fashion last season (meaning they will be motivated to beat us). They also have one of the best QBs in the nation so your system better work. If it doesn't then you will be held responsible. You have no guarentee of lasting the season, or even the game for that matter (VT and his posse might get impatient). So how 'bout it?

Really good DC: Lets see. Only one week to revamp a defensive scheme, an AD who will bend so far to please a few chicken little fans that he will fire a new coordnator two games into the season even though they were both against ranked teams, and no guarentee that i will last the entire season, not to mention that by doing this I will become enemy #1 among an entire fan base (the team i am screwing by leaving midseason). Where do i sign up?

Or better yet, do you want to tell everyone that we will keep him on, but fire him at seasons end. Yea, that will get the defensive players believing in him the rest of the year. Lets say we promote from within. We are still stuck with the problem of making huge changes miseason and expecting results imediatly against quality opponents. The facts are that no matter how horrible our D is this year ( and i expect it to improove) we are stuck with what we have all year. Don't forget, we are competing for a national title and changes of the magnitude you are suggesting midseaon can only be bad.
