    Here's a prop!

    Score by Quarters 1 2 3 4 Score
    ----------------- -- -- -- -- -----
    LSU........................ 0 7 0
    Arizona State........... 0 10 7

What did running ON FIRST DOWN all night long accomplish? No, I'm not gonna buy your comment.

Allow me to refer you to the game winning touchdown play. The play went to the right and there was nothing there, so JR turned around and rolled left and hit the 40 yarder on the run. He looked pretty damn mobile to me.

Now, if your definition of "mobile" is to be able to run like Michael Vick, then no JR is not mobile. To me, mobile means the ability to move out of the pocket when necessary. Jason White couldn't get away from a granny in a wheelchair. JR is not going to pull the ball down and make people miss him like crazy, but he is mobile enough to get out of the pocket when he needs to and make plays, as he did on the game winning TD.

ALL QB's get sacked. It's part of the game. The fact is he made MANY good plays against ASU by rolling out of the pocket and throwing on the run. A QB who is not mobile could not do such a thing.

I will give you that he is not a great running QB, (those are few and far between btw), if you will give me that he is VERY FAR from being immobile.

Straight line 40 times are not everything by the way and do not determine whether a QB is mobile or not.

we all know that JaMarcus will not get out of the pocket and run for it. I think that the best we can hope for him is for him to get better at rolling out and moving around. He showed that he has that ability on the GW TD pass on saturday night. I think that in the Tenn game JR will get sacked maybe 1-2 times and have -21 yrds rushing. If he can do that, then we will be fine.

I really do worry, however how well a "running" qb will do in the SEC. Everybody here seems confident that RP will light up defenses with his running ability when he does scramble, but i am not too sure. I wonder how that ability would be implemented (designed QB run, option, ect). Can a running QB in the SEC stay healthy? SEC defenses hit hard so the chances of an injury seem high for that type of QB.

I don't know. We will just have to wait and see i guess.

What else could we expect out of Jimbo's play calling when our offense was playing so sloppy? He had to call boring predictable plays because those were the only ones we could manage. I too would have liked to see Fisher mix it up a little bit more, but I understood why he couldn't.

Russell does need to work on picking up the blitz, but that's something that comes with time. Our RB's need to block better for him too.

    Overall, I like your assesment.

Watch what Florida does to Clausen. I don't see Clausen finishing this game. Imagine JR under that same pressure. That's Florida's defense, not Tennessee's. He's got 5 weeks to get ready for the gators. He's got another long week to get ready for Tennessee. Playtime with the Pac-10 and ASU is over. It's SEC time, where the rush is a step faster, the hits are a bit harder, and they put your lights out and talk about it later. I hope this kid can pull out both big games out for LSU, or rather, NOT GIVE THE GAMES AWAY WITH COSTLY TURNOVERS. Jimbo has a tough week ahead. We're so damned lucky TN is playing Fla this week. So damned lucky!

You act like the kid has never played an SEC football game. He did manage to play in quite a few SEC games last year...

Like I mentioned above, he's 5-0 as a starter. Last year, he started after LSU lost their shot at a NC at Auburn. Each of his games he starts now have national title shot on the line. The stakes are raised. He hasn't faced the pressure of a Tennessee type game or defense.

if RP sets foot on the field this year it is a major mistake. JR still has 2 more years, why waste one of RP's years of eligibility.

You act as if the passing game didn't drop 10 balls and fumble, did that not impact the score heh?. We ran the clock down for 11 minutes, if we run the ball until they are forced to stop us, we have at least 6 minutes per drive. They cannot score when we have the ball. I realize you're trying to justify all that typing you did, but the fact remains they could not stop our running game despite stacking the box with 7 and 8 several times.
