http://info.vipsports.com/en/sports/livelines_cf.htm ASU has been a 1 to 1 1/2 point favorite since early Wednesday. The Mirage currently shows ASU a 1 1/2 point pick with an over/under of 54.
In case you can't scroll all the way down on the above website. 09/10/2005 423 LSU (-110) 424 ARIZONA STATE -1.5 (-110) Just below the spread (if you can scroll) it shows ASU 100-1 to win the BCS Rose Bowl and LSU 18-1... some comfort there.
LSU started slow under Saban because Saban never used all of his practices. LSU always had 6 or 7 fewer practices than the rest of the country. Saban felt like that helped with conditioning and injuries. I think that is the reason we always started very slow under Saban.
funniest thing i've read all year: (from ASU forum) LSU is definately going to be fired up and playing with pride and purpose. What I'm worried about is that our Devils come out flat, not wanting to hit someone while they are down, so to speak. After they get popped in the mouth a few times by the LSU players, they may catch on, but will it be too late? I trust coach K is addressing this, but still wonder if it can truly be prepared for. Myself, I prefer C. Vaughn's "wild dog" quote from earlier this week. If ASU's players are as weak mentally as their fans seem to be, I'm not even sure if they'll get 10 points.
This game will prove to be a real test for how well the new coaching staff can manage the players focus and mental outlook. This event has effected almost everyone in some form or another, and players are no different. Come Saturday, the only thing on their minds must be football, despite whatever personal loss some players may have endured. Miles will contend with challenges most teams never face.
I posted a score prediction based on the odds and over-under. I am expecting LSU to win. I thought it is interesting that LSU went from a 9.5 point favorite to a 1.5 point underdog. I am not affiliated any site or promoting any site. I posed the question at the top of the thread to provoke responses and to encourage people to read and respond to the post. Give MrX a break; I think he is 14 or 15. Who knows who will win? I didn't expect the Oregon State game or the Virginia Tech game. It is tough to predict the first game of the season against a good opponent. I think it depends of whether Russell plays like he did against Iowa or if he plays like he did against Florida. I have been a Russell guy from the beginning; I like Perrilloux and whitey too. I think Saban made a bad decision to stick with Randall at quarterback for the last few years. He should have changed positions. We would have been better off last season with Ricard or Clausen who were both ran off in favor of Randall. Randall is a good football player but a very bad passer.
