I feel the same way. If it's postponed, it'll be disappointing, but we have to sep back and see the whole picture. On the other hand, many, if not most, evacuees are LSU fans and they could use the 3 hour diversion that a play by play of an LSU victory would provide. If LSU lost, well...Camel...straw...back.
Can't be. Dandy Don said he's 99% sure it won't be and why wouldn't we believe him? :hihi: I got a call from a friend that left on a Carnival Cruise out of N.O. Saturday. They obviously can't return to N.O. and are porting in Galveston on Thursday. Since I'm in Houston and I was headed back for the game on Friday, I told him I'd bring him and his crew back to Baton Rouge. That's going to be one not very fun trip if the game is canceled and I'm going back just to visit my friends and family (most of whom are without power in Ascension Parish). WWL is reporting: LSU becoming a major staging area for injured and evacuees. Campus allowing families of students to house with them. Making facilities available as "community responsibility" according to Chancellor Sean O'Keefe. That's just setting the stage for the greatest tailgate party in the history of Louisiana, if you ask me.
I've got a friend on that same cruise. I hear their ship credit cards will be credited (useless if you ask me, you can't spend that money unless you go on another cruise) and they will be taxied from Galveston to Houston where they will be on their own. They were debating on purchasing a few tickets on Southwest for a flight from Houston Hobby to BTR, but in the end deciding to rent a conversion van and drive up to Houston. Would save quite a bit of $$$.
I really don't think that UNT would WANT to come to Louisiana in this mess. Even though it's "fine" in BR, they're seeing pictures of New Orleans and thinking otherwise... I would think.
The deal on playing the game at a later date if made is not a one week decision. Things are not suppose to change in NO for 4 to 6 weeks. Now you are talking at least 2 games, one being on National Television plus rescheduling nightmare. I feel for the people that had losses but this isn't 9-11.
You have to wonder about the availability of emergency personnel for the LSU game as well as police officers, You also have the problem of transportation for many of the fans coming from south of Baton Rouge and especially south of New orleans. Also, will the ticket holders in these places that are impassable even be able to get to their tickets if they are not allowed back home by then.
this game could be the setting for something special... Remember when baseball played after 9/11 in New York how special it was for the people to just get away? If we play Sat, it will be special
A football game is not very important right now. All our resources need to be dedicated to this tragedy. I'd postpone the game to a later date if possible...
