good luck to everyone. a little south of baton rouge waiting it out and hopefully this bitch will start that eastward movement rather abruptly. no work tomorrow but something tells me i may wish i had to. 4th worst ever to hit the mainland? yikes.
Man the interstate going North on I -55 ...........up here around Memphis is CRAZY! bumper to bumper!
I'm am in my apartment over by the North Gate... I expect we will see something like with Andrew, which means 3 days to a week of no power.. to anyone who is saying they are in Baton Rouge and they are scared, dont worry about... unless you are on a floodplain or near the Amite or Comite Rivers, you should be fine... If you can, dont park your car near any trees, tape up your windows... when the big winds come in, open your windows an inch or so, this keeps the pressure from building up and blowing out a window... be careful with the candles and keep your spirits up...
Somebody give this ole boy some Rep Points. And, get your life preservers out too, if you have 'em. I've got two here, one for me and ole Fella.
I think I'm having the equivalent of hurricane sympathy pains over here. Can't sleep, thinking about what's going to happen. My best friend and his wife and kids have a house in River Ridge about 500 feet from the levy. They've gone to Lafayette, but I'm worried sick that they're going to lose their house. We've always joked about the "big one" hitting and finally ridding the world of NOLA's filth. But now that it's getting close, it's a sickening feeling. And to think I still haven't had a chance to take my new wife to Galatoire's or Commander's. Man, I hope this thing just moves due east. I read that if it misses NOLA on the east side, that could be worse, since it'll blow Lake Ponchartrain into NOLA. I'm not meteorologist, but regardless, this just looks so damned bad. Not sure how much more I can pray, but I'm trying.
they said the eye was larger than lake ponchartrain. 35+ miles wide i think. yeah i cant sleep either but some relatives in town are snoring.
Yea, I saw that. Freaking nuts. Some of the doomsday predictions about what could happen w/ the chemical plants and cemetaries is just awful. Basically saying the area could be one big uninhabitable environmental disaster. And to think i thought it was that BEFORE Katrina....
Just posted the article on another thread! Damned hard to sleep now with the wind picking up even more. It's started to tear things loose in the neighborhood. These yuppies never take care of their things down here. :hihi:
