Where do you get that he thinks he's at Ground Zero????

You sure read a lot into dude's comments.... :dis:

PS NO and the Quarter goes down - EVERYBODY wants to know.
Gulfport? 'Bout the same as a tiny lil town on the plains of Bama...

Probably from the part on the page where he said, "Welcome to ground zero."

How you managed to turn this into some SEC pissing contest is anyone's guess. I was just making one little observation based on his "ground zero" comment. Well, that and some of his other observations about how things weren't as bad as people were told to expect and so on. NO was, at least compared to what it could have been, lucky. Gulfport ended up getting what was headed NO's way.

Feel free to squeeze something in that to be offended by too, though.

    I side with Titan here.

I have heard the ground zero expression several times regarding this storm, and it was first mentioned by the Jeffersion Parish Risk Manager on CNN yesterday. based on all accounts of this storm, and how it could end up being one of the deadliest and most expensive ever, i think ground zero is a satisfactory term.

as for Gulfport, i really feel for those people. it may not be New Orleans in size or fan fare, but it is American citizens being dealt a huge uppercut by Mother Nature, and i wish ill will on nobody.

here is hoping that it is just property, and not a large loss of life, we hear about in the coming days.

Anyone on the board live in the Lakeview area? I have read reports that the 17th Street Canal was breeched, but I don't know where. I am trying to get info on Lakeview in the immediate area of Hynes Elementary School.

I can't believe this. One of the worst storms to ever hit LA and we barely get a drop of rain up here. I have a dry lake behind the house that may never fill back up. I hate it for the people down south, but, I was hoping for some rain. :(

Chalmette is in really bad shape from what I heard from a firefighter there. Water 15 feet high, people on their roofs & dead bodies floating down the streets... :dis:
