Good grief, this thing is scary. My prayers are with all of you. If you're reading this and you're in the NOLA, shut down your computer and leave. Go anywhere. Hell, head to Houston.

We were on here joking about this storm on Friday, but this has gotten very scary very quickly. God bless everyone in the path.

I just talked to my dad who works at the Shell plant. And he said before they evacuate they have to shut down the plant, which takes hours to do. And as of right now they are not doing it now nor do they plan to do it anytime soon.

They have thier own weather people so I am guessing they know something that everyone else does not.

Just listening to WJBO here in BR. We are supposed to get 10 to 12 hours of 40+mph sustained winds here. In comparison, this area only got about 4 hours of those winds for Andrew

Mike is ready to go get MarineTiger.

Yup, looks like you could be right! We just had the first band of rain down here in Happy Jack a while ago. Just finished frying up some fresh specks and taters. I really tore 'em up this morning. They always bite like hell ahead of these weather fronts. :hihi: Me and old Fella gonna ride this out like all the rest. This storm has another wiggle in her, I'm damn sure of it. That Bob Breck's full of **** anyhow, and the rest of 'em too. This storm is a wild one, one of those richochet rabbits, just you watch. Ain't no one gonna predict this one correctly. Anyway, New Orleans won't get hit, they always luck out.

Ain't nothin' to do but get dead drunk and ride her out and talk nonsense with you silly pukes anyhow. Besides, there's nowhere to run for an old crip like me. The way I see it, it's best to just anchor down and ride her out. Ain't nothing but marsh around here anyhow! This old cypress won't blow away.

The potential devastation of this scarry storm is unthinkable.
I have a condo at Pensacola Beach where the new highrises in the development survived IVAN (Cat 3) pretty well with only problems of blown roof, water intrusion and several broken windows in several units. However, the power of the missile projectiles is incredible: outside on the exterior concrete wall of the highrise (floor 17), I saw a 1 to 1.5 inch piece of a broken roof tile that was stuck in the wall. A lot of the surrounding beachhouse literally vanished. There was a house at Fort Pickens where the concrete slab got moved several inches.
A lot of the houses along the south border of Gulf Breeze facing the Intracostal Waterway also got wiped out. The tornados spawned was reported responsible for taking out the I-10 overpass over Escambia Bay. It concerns me with this large Cat 5 + storm.

Here are the "computer models" discussed on televsion. No wonder everyone agrees its going to hit NOLA. I hope this thing weakens as it gets to the coast but it doesn't like it will.
