I doubt that Guilbeau is going away. The best advice I can give is that sports writers have opinions. And you know the old saying about opinions and a hole in your body. Everybody has one.
i like Guilbeau. if you were to rank the coaches before saban played a game here I suppose he would be somewhere near the middle of the pack. certainly not sure how he puts fullmer 5th after all he has done at UT regardless the off the field stuff of late. i disagree with most of his list and probably disagree less with Miles' ranking since i can understand he has proven nothing. I would also rank meyer ahead of miles. id rank em: 1. spurrier 2. phat phil 3. tuberville 4. richt 5. nutt 6. meyer 7. miles 8. croom 9. shula 10. johnson 11. orgeron 12. brooks
More games than he lost and had 3 winning seasons in four years. I think that's impressive, especially considering OSU played under Oklahoma shadow. Remember there was this coach from a Big 10 school, under the shadow of a bigger, badder in-state school, that had three winning seasons in the six seasons he was there and he fared pretty well at LSU. I know that Miles will be tagged with winning on Saban's talent. I see recruiting as an indicator of how talent high school players view a coach and a program. Miles hasn't missed a step and the character issue, a big concern with me, remains at the top of LSU check list. When I compare our team with Tennessee, the first things I notice are the police blotter and academic successes of each team. The Vols have us up and down on the future all-chain gang team. Tennessee stopped trying to enforce classroom attendance during the spring. Did Tennessee admit SEC football is charade, or is LSU's response of every player on the roster with at least a 2.0 GPA the answer? Miles could have let the academics go and mimicked the stunts of the Eastern Division schools. I chalk his approach as another win. He did not inherit a renagade program and he's not letting it go to the dogs now that he's in charge. Miles handled the heat of the summer chicken tour well and I expect him to handle the fickliness of the vocal, but small minority of know-it-all LSU fans who will yell bloody murder if LSU has to punt in the 1st quarter on September 3. Les Miles proved his ability winning in a place that truly is a coaching grave yard. He beat Oklahoma in consecutive years, an Okie State achievement that had not been accomplished since 1965-66 and only four total times in OSU history. The man is responsible for 1/8 of OSU wins over their archrival in over 100 years of football. Won what? Give him credit, how about asking won where?
Can someone explain to me how they can put Tubby in their Top 3? He was almost fired last year due to winning Has never won 9+ games in consecutive seasons Won 10+ games for the first time last year
