Anyone had a chance to read it yet? Got my email today. Skip confirms that 1500-2000 seats will not be available for the first few home games (as previously posted a day or so ago). He goes on to mention that next year Tiger Stadium will be getting a new field. I hope to high heaven that we do not get rid of the natural grass - I hate that field turf that many people are going to nowdays. chat goes on to talk about the PMAC and renovations/additions at other facilities.
What amazed me was the part about only spending $20 million on facilities from 1979-1999. I'm guessing that this amount barely covered general maintenance costs.
And I bet Broadhead spent the majority of it. It burrs my saddle when I hear him sounding like he had all the right answers. This is the same clown how nearly killed off Converse because he felt Jazzersize shoes were a fad. Reebok..., some fad, eh, Joe?
I don't think it's field turf. I saw a a few games on espn last year that showed nat grass and a drain and pump system to beat all. Absolutely no standing H2O. That is what I am looking for.
Bertman brought in David H???? (Sherry Wharton's husband) to oversee the new fields (he was the green superintendent at Briarwood for 15 years). They intended to do it this year but either ran out of time or money to pull the trigger. The entire field is to be torn up and an elaborate drainage system installed underneath then re-sod with a perfect crown down the middle. Suppose to be the higest tech drainage system today and using the same sod they use for the super bowl. Just what i heard but defiantley not artifical turf.
