I sure hope he'll be on the field in the fall. I love Gino - you can't help but like a walk-on who's garnered a scholarship through hard work and hard hits on special teams..etc. For me and I'm sure I'm not alone in this, Gino represents those of us who didn't have the ability or talent to play college football for LSU but would have loved to. Just to run out that tunnel on a Saturday Night into Death Valley to the roar of 92,000 fans, then to run down the field and try to make a tackle on a kickoff - what a thrill. How many of us would give anything to have done that just once? In a way Gino is LSU's version of Rudy.

i'm not sure, if he left or not, if he was on the spring roster then he didn't leave.

he may have been a senior academic wise but most walk-ons redshirt a year, and he was a jr. last year in athletics so he should be back. he may have finished his degree in 4 years and decided to forgo his senior year of athletic eligibility

Class of 89. The team really struggled when I was there--think they won, like, 5 games in four years or something.

Was a satisfactory answer given for the question? I like the kid for precisely the reason that you so aptly stated.
