Skip? Skip? What does it matter who Skip likes? I'd be more concerned with who Les and Jimbo like! :dis:

How about who the team likes? It was so cool to have a leader at QB who the team could rally around (Davey is a great example). Also, I hope that this QB position doesnt become a big distraction (i.e. Josh Booty). Let's find the #1 QB, and hope that the team gels. I couldnt care less who it is. I hope whoever it is, the fans will get behind and not start to call for his head as soon as he throws his first INT, or loses his first game. But who am I kidding. Fans are not exactly known for their patience.

I don't understand what you have seen from Flynn that makes you think that he "gets it" when it comes to reading the defense and making the right calls. He's only played a few series and certainly hasn't looked very impressive. In fact, the only TD I can remember him throwing was a short little pass that Xavier took for about 80 yards. Understand that I'm not knocking Flynn or saying that he won't or shouldn't be our QB. I just don't understand why people keep saying that he is so good at making reads and calls at the line. I certainly hope it's not because he's white.

If I had to bet, I would think that Jamarcus will be the opening game starter and will keep the job as long as he's healthy. If injured Flynn would most likely be the backup. I am hopeful that RP will be willing to redshirt but I'm dobtful that he will. I don't think he plans on staying in Baton Rouge for 5 years. Whichever of the three it turns out to be, I'm confident that we'll be fine. They all have SEC caliber talent and arms, and they will be surrounded with more talent than they'll know what to do with.

    1. Flynn will not transfer for any reason.

    2. LSU may never have a better physical specimen at QB than JaMarcus Russell... ever.

    3. No QB on any team is invincible - football is a snap by snap game and injuries can change everything in the blink of an eye.

    4. I don't see Perrilloux wearing a redshirt unless he is absolutely lost in the offense.

    5. As for NFL potential, right now there are more QB's in the NFL who had limited college playing time than ever before. If Flynn has the ability he will be scouted accordingly and given his shot...

From what i've seen, JR is the truly gifted QB. He will start and he will rewrite the record books, Skip willing.

Very good point here. If not for his heroism (and Bowes freakish gamebreaking ability) very late in the game, people might be saying the same things they are about Flynn right now in regards to JaMarcus.

Yes. Take out the 67 yd. bomb against a high school team (MSU) and he threw for 32 yards. Compare and contrast Russell v. the same Iowa defense.

There's just no reason, in my opinion, to even have a QB discussion, especially after what was supposedly a lacklaster spring scrimmage for Flynn as well.

OK, how about this: "I think Matt Flynn will be a great, great QB at LSU because he was a highly sought-after recruit, and he's apparently smart. Performance be damned."

Personally, I want nothing more than for JR to step to the plate and take that starter's job by the throat and make it his, to bust out and make this offense hum the way it can and should. National Champions are lead by a single starting QB, not one run by committee.

BUT...I'm definitely in RP's camp because I believe in the hype until it's proven wrong. The guy talks the talk, and I for one want to see him walk the walk.

Agreed with Flynn being a transfer candidate next year. No fun being a 3rd stringer, even if the team is top 5-caliber good.
