Mediocre coaches in very nice situations have 500 or losing records. They don't have the highest winning percentage of any coach at their school in decades. I'd have Saban no higher than 3rd and maybe as low as 4th or 5th looking at his entire body of work at MSU and LSU.
Thank goodness they didn't list Tuberville or we would have a 30 page thread here (just kidding) :hihi: :hihi:
Oh Mandel also happened to leave off Bobby Bowden. Again, say what you will about Bowden, his record over a long time speaks for itself. He belongs on that list waaaaay before Petrino, Meyer or Hawkins.
Damn right, was this guy born yesterday or something? I bet last year was his first year to ever watch a lick of football.
You're missing the whole point of his list. Its not a list of top coaches based on their entire career, if so you would have seen Bowden, Paterno, and Spurrier listed. This is basically a list of coaches that the media seem to have boners over. That is the only way that a guy like Meyer who has a whopping 4 year career is listed as a 'top coach'. It should be titled 'Hottest Coaches' or something to let us know that it is a list based largely on emotion rather than fact.
this list is crap. NO Visor Boy(top five coach of all time), No Bowden(top five all time), also no Paterno. I know JoePa is old and is losing it, but to say he isn't a top ten coach, are you kidding me? He is a top ten coach of all time. Like said earlier this list is just hot coachs. But if you wanna do that you have to include Price. You guys can knock brown all you want, but he wins 10 games almost every year. Yeah he hasn't won the big one, but he will break through one day. If he sucks so much and UT is so easy to win at then why didn't the coachs before him? The only reason to knock Phill is his weight and his off the field problems. He has done nothing, but win. Yeah he couldn't beat visor boy for a long time, but who could. He has won a NC and a couple of conf championships(i think). There is no reason to knock him.
