Coach Tubs spoke last night to an alumni group in Huntsville, AL last night. Before you say "who gives a s***", let me say why I post this here. A year ago at this same meeting, I reported here that I talked to TT about what could be done to tone down the anger that was developing around the LSU-Auburn game. I had a chance to talk to him again last night. He said he was pleased there had been no further incidents that he was aware of and was proud that no Auburn players had gotten in trouble in a long time. He said last year's game with LSU was hard fought but clean and that LSU was the best team we played. He would liked to have seen Auburn and LSU in a final four with Sou. Cal and OK for the FB NC. I know most of you don't like him and that's OK but the more I'm around him the more I respect him as a coach and a person. I hope the fans on both sides will make the same efforts to keep things civil in a growing rivalry.

    Damn. Too late.

It's a pre-emptive move. Tubby is looking for some mercy for next season.

I'd like to think that Tubberville is growing wiser with age.

I don't think we'll be seeing much more violence through the LSU-Auburn rivalry. It will remain intense because we should be the best 2 teams from the West & thus winning the game will be vital in going to the SECCG for quite some time to come.

But now that we've got Tulane back, we don't have to look at Auburn or Ole Miss as our rival - merely as a team we want to beat & happen to severly dislike.

Yeah, I gotta go w/ you on this one, Salty. A rivalry should at least have some element of competition involved.

    Tulane is our true rival.

I didn't say Tulane would beat us or even make a competitive game out of it - because they won't. But that won't take away from the enjoyment I get out of LSU stomping them into the ground.

With no Tulane on the schedule, we didn't have a rival. We had out of state teams that we played on a regular basis but they all have another school they view as their true rival.

Did you ask Tubs if he is going to fire Borges when Auburn wins 7 games?

    I agree with everybody.

It's going to be great fun beating up on Tulane but it's like a rivalry between a hammer and a nail.

Isn't it strange that there have been no more incidents since tubby stopped doing all the things he used to do to provoke LSU and its fans. gee I wonder why???
