A serious question regarding LSU baseball....

I think this is the kind of statement that gets people upset and emotional. You see, many think that there is nothing wrong with the baseball team. We're in a great conference where we are in the mix for winning the overall championship with 6 games left to play. Every team in the country has one or two pitchers that they were counting on that are fullfilling expectations, same with hitters. Teams like Tulane, Cal St Fulerton, etc. can get away with that and still have a dominate recrod because they have a bunch of easy series, in the SEC there are no easy series.

Yep, what he said... All I hear is how terrible LSU is doing. Everytime I look at our record I always feel it COULD be better. It also could be MUCH worst if LSU hadn't turned their season around midway through. After looking at the rest of the SEC teams' records, I feel a lot better. LSU is no worst off this season than any before, it's just that the SEC is getting better. Don't believe me? How come Arkansas has passed us in attendance. How come Arkansas and USC are so dominant? We have the perrenial powers in the SEC like Florida, LSU, and Alabama; (for years State was also pretty dominant,) and we have teams like UK that are on the upswing. The SEC, UNLIKE CUSA (which is getting better,) beats its self up every weekend with every match up. Put LSU in CUSA and I think we're a legitimate top five in the nation with no more than 9 losses overall. With having said that, put Tulane in the SEC and they're going to be a 'middle of the pack' team like LSU is. What am I getting at? Plain and simple, the SEC is a tough ass conference and some on this forum forget to take note of that. You guys better get used to having "mediocre" seasons like this one because, LSU is never going to make a run again--I can promise you.

obviously some of you expect the team to be a major league caliber team. Every pitcher will not be clemens level. Don't expect these 18-21 year old guys to be perfect every time out. As of Edgar, if you want just one performance where he was great under pressure...the 'Bama 12 inning game. Stop bitching about every little thing and realize that we have a damn good staff for COLLEGE baseball:tigbas:  :geauxtige LSU!

Thank you Cajdav. It's good to see that there are adults out there who understand. Wait until Tulane, ULL and the other big fish in weak sister conferences have to go up against the big boys. ULL's gaudy record has been posted against teams about 3 notches below Ky and Ga in talent. If you need your team to make you feel like a big man, then go pull for one of them.

Smoke has had this team in the top-10 all year. What exactly is the problem with that? Baseball is competitive in the SEC, for heavens sake. Skip had a knack for peaking the team at tournament time, even with a bunch of mid-season losses. LSU is a strong baseball team and Smoke will get more out of them, yet.
