Yea i saw the article and that is typical for the shreveport times to do an article like that. The funny thing about this is that this is like winning a national title to centenary. That was there one great win for the season. By the way does anybody know what the overall record between lsu and centenary is? Smoke will get the boys back on the right track and the pitching will come around.

Like it or not, this win is HUGE for Centenary, its fans and supporters. They have every right to be VERY proud of their victory. It was not as if they squeaked one out. They had a very solid victory. One which I certainly would call a blowout if I were a Centenary fan. In the long term, Centenary may become yet another decent college baseball program in Louisiana. The more the merrier as far as I am concerned.

In terms of the game from my perspective... a LSU fan's perspective... It is simply an early season game and a learning experience. I certainly do not expect a loss to Centenary but I am not surprised or upset over it. I expect LSU to gel by year's end when it matters most, as they usually do.

some are comparing this team to the 1997 team, and I would be certain they would not have lost to Centenary. Smoke is the weak link on this team, just my opinion.

Do you honestly think lsu has progressed as a team since smoke got the head job??

In 2002 we got drilled by Rice

In 03 and 04 we went 0-2 in CWS.

Skip didnt make it to omaha his last year yet smoke did as soon as he took over. So i guess skip regressed as a coach from the previous year and smoke was just riding the talent skip had left.

Wait, if skip couldnt make it with his own talent, how could smoke do it the following year. damn, now im confused.

You offer great insight realizing that Smoke isn't the greatest college baseball coach of all time; its because he replaced the greatest coach in college baseball.

Maybe we can hire skip back or get the next greatest coach out there, whoever that is. Be sure to let skip know who that is since you're more qualified in judging baseball coaching talent than he is but im sure skip hired him cuz that was his buddy, right?

thanks in advance for our next coach whoever you have in place. all LSU fans will appreciate your insight since we have been suffering of late being ranked 2 and 3 nationally. If only we could be #1 again.

skip would have never lost to a centenary or even a southern. wait, he did...nevermind. Yet, skip won many games in omaha and the cws many times but smoke hasnt. Wait, I was there, now I remember. LSU used to be good. now we are simply average. well actually we have loads of talent but no coach to win it all with.

you're an insightful fan. we need more just like you who point out the small details most of us common fans can't see. Im guessing youre one of those "fans" who will say the program has regressed if smoke does anything beyond wining it all this year.

Do me and yourself a favor, pull for Tulane. we'll both be better off.

then again, this is just my opinion.

They can be proud, they can do this, or they can do that:

All I have to say is that if we played them in a 101 game series, we win 51-1...

They just had their lucky night at the right time! I mean if my school had never beaten LSU EVER in ANYTHING, i would be happy too! HAHA

They just now have to make the happiness last, b/c something like this will never happen again for them, for at least 10 years
