Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I don't think Dunbar is ready to be a DC. Who has he learned under? Bill Clay at OSU? 1 year under Lovie Smith? Maybe in a couple of years he can learn a lot from Pelini, I hear he is really smart and dedicated.

Geez! Can we let the guy coach his first game with us before looking at the glass as half-empty?

Relax guys and gals! We have just completed our coaching staff and just like everything else since Miles was named coach here, things are falling in place.

Since Saban left, everyone has been all "gloom and doom" waiting for the next tragedy to happen. But guess what? We've been given NOTHING BUT PLEASANT SURPRISES since Miles has been here!

Excellent post Boston, I couldn't agree with you more. Miles is doing a wonderful job.

Do we really want a DC/OC that does so poorley that they stay? Come on guys, if BP or Jimbo does great next year and moves on better for us. I for one want them to do incredible and get a thousand offers. Next year they will find the next BP or Muschamp. Besides gives us football conversation in February.

I heard Pellini is the odds-on favorite to replace Coach K when he leaves Duke.

Well, by that lodgic, why did ANY of us think for one minute that Saban would stay here. He had not stayed in ANY one place longer than 5 years?!

It is kinda weird to try to find a replacement before he is even gone.

I'll give him a year or two at LSU before he gets his own HC gig.

He's building a nice resume btw.

Everyone talks about "the business of coaching", and how nothing is guaranteed with it.

You're NOT guaranteed to have a good coach...
You're NOT guaranteed to stay in one place if you ARE a coach...
You're NOT guaranteed to be employeed for ONLY one season....
You're NOT guaranteed to be employed for 20 seasons....
You're NOT guaranteed to stay even though you recently won a championship...

Coaches are in the "what can you do for me NOW" category. NOT 5 years from now, not what they did 5 years ago. It's now. Today. Present.

...and PRESENTLY, Pellini is our DC and Les Miles has put together a solid staff and NOW we can FULLY look forward to the 2005 season. NOT the possibility of a 2006, or 2007 season with no Bo Pellini.

I don't think we want a Saban's other clone to be DC, you know that old rule about a copy of copy not being as good as the original. I mean if were into clones, I think we should clone Lombardi as the head coach with Belicheck as the DC and Saban as the DB coach. What a coaching staff that would be.
