"It's time for Baton Rouge media and fans to quit whining about Tuberville lighting up a cigar years ago after yet another of his LSU wins. That was all in fun, and it's pretty common after Alabama-Auburn and Tennessee-Alabama games. Get over it already!"

    1. Glen Guilbeau is an idiot. He's the Paul Finebaum of Louisiana.

    2. Rating Saban behind Tuberville (who has never won a conference championship anywhere) is designed to be controversial. That's his style. Tuberville never comes in higher than 4th in independent coaches ratings.

    3. Smoking is prohibited in Tiger Stadium; no matter who, no matter what, no matter when.

    4. "football at Auburn is something else." Got to agree with you there, pal!

I'll take your word for it. Don't know the guy. All I know is it was in your hometown paper.

Maybe so. Of course, taking all the factors into consideration, his rankings weren't that unreasonable.

And I'm sure THIS is the reason why you guys have been whining about it for 3 years. We broke the "no smoking" rule! Thanks for clearing that up.

    So does this guy:

There is a difference when no else can smoke and he does so on the jumbotron to salt the wound. I have an idea since firing up and stompin' the tiger eye is all in good fun. Maybe we ask the duck hunters on the team that when we go to Auburn and "tiger" is circling the field they take shooting stances and act like they are shooting it?

A barner is lecturing us on about whining. What a hoot! Read some Auburn sites if you want to see some whiners. They even invent things to complain about.

Guilbeau said before the Cotton Bowl that he definitely thought Randall would start over Mauck in 2003 because he felt Randall outperformed Mauck in 2003. I was incredulous. The Tuberville comment does not add to Guilbeau's credibility, but Tuberville is a good coach.

Randall has the physical tools...it's his head that holds him back. Given the situation last year, I'd throw that position wide open to all comers, including JaMarcus Russell. LSU could do some big things this year, but realistically, I think the talent they have is set up for bigger things in '04 and '05 if everything comes together. So, even if a true frosh like Russell got the nod and had a few hard knocks, you guys would be better for it the next two seasons.

Yeah, but Mauck has proven that he can be a leader and make good decisions. Randall hasnt. Randall has a nice pretty deep ball, but they are too often jump balls. I say the position is locked, and Mauck has it. I hope our freshmen never have to play a down. What I would like to see is Mauck starting this year and next year (assuming he proves himself), with Randall backing him up this year and Russell next. Then Russell could get his first start as a sophomore with 2 years in the system. Of course we all keep overlooking Matt Flynn.
