Wow, am I the only one who wasn't enamored with Les' hiring who chose not to take the "wait and see" fence-sitting option in the poll? "Ramah" and I are the only two contrarians in the poll, I guess. Hey, I'd love nothing more than to be wrong and for Les to show the world his true coaching genius by getting LSU to Atlanta every season, dispelling any doubt any of us could have had in his hiring today. That crow would be the tastiest I've ever eaten! :thumb:
I would've liked to vote on #2 and #3 because I would've liked for the process to at least gauge interest and interview a few NFL coaches or assistants, etc. I think this was rushed, looks like we were in a hurry to try and save the day or recruiting class. Having said that I will support him and give him a chance to show what he can do. I do think the true story won't be next year or the year after but the 4th year of his program. Perfect examples of this were Mike Archer and Gerry Dinardeaux
I didn't even know who Les Miles was before the search began and I still don't know anyting about him so it's hard for me to say that I hate him. I will give him a full season and his own reqruiting class before i make any judgements but I really hope this turns out well for us
During all of the Saban decision times, I did not want to agree with the people that wanted it to happen and just move on, but now I think I must have been thinking that all along. I have no complaints or comments about the hire, just glad its done and want to move on. I guess that is the die hard tiger fan that I am. I support coach Miles, and think, like any HC, that his success is greatly affected by his hires of assistants.
Sabanfan got pissed and left. I voted for #1 and like Mesquite have countless posts as to why. My signature is one reason. He was able to win at Stillwater when very few before him have. He has a top 15 recruiting class according to Rivals in 2003 when he had to compete against countless other Universities with 10X better facilities and stadium. However, I was very tempted to vote wait and see. The only reason for that was to see what happens with Bill Clay and the DC position.
I really don't think that Urban Meyer is going to be all that much better than Zook. There is just too much recruiting competition within the state of Florida to begin with, and he is not going to inherit enough talent in the beginning to challenge right away. And Florida State will be gunning for him as soon as he hits the state line. Georgia has way more talent stocked up and Tennessee has much better young talent as well. Spurrier is going to be a factor in two years. I think everyone at South Carolina knows that he will have to totally rebuild from the loss of so many seniors this season. If I were to worry about any new coach in the SEC, it is Spurrier by a mile. If I were a Gator fan, I would tar and feather Foley right out of Gainesville. I have stated my opinion of Miles, so for all of you die-hard LSU fans... A simple, "Good Luck," to you!
More than likely, deer hunting. The man has to take a break every now and then. His retirement life of educating some of you has to be taxing!! :thumb: :usaflagwa
I feel good about Miles. If nothing else, the man has to be somewhat resourceful to be able to do what he's done @ Oklahoma St. with as little to work with as there was for him. He'll be a fine coach.
