At first I thought Neu's troubles were miniscule... but the NCAA Tournament pool he put in on ... the amount was $20,000, just in case you didn't know.
But he had no dog in the hunt and the NCAA found that he didn't actually violate rules. He is suing UW. UW claims that they fired him because he wasn't being honest. UW is holding on by a thread from a major damage award. At any rate, who wants a coach who sues his former university anyway? Ideally, no one.
Gordy Rush said it best yesterday on the Eagle 98.1 post-game show... "Every sentence ever said about this guy will end with, 'who was involved in a collegiate gambling probe while the head coach at Washington,' " I don't care if he's the 2nd coming...We don't need an SEC coach stained by scandal...With guys like Phil Fulmer out there doing a Michael Moore speech on George W. Bush impersonation anytime he loses a recruit to a fellow conference school, we need to steer clear from even a scent of impropriety...and Neuheisel would permeate it throughout our program... Get a clue.
Les will be fine as long as he brings in good coaches to surround him. Should be interesting to see who he brings in at OC. Hopefully someone who has a history of bringing along QBs.
I am still waiting for someone (not just you, all those who don't like this hire) to give me a list of viable candidates that LSU could have hired that would be a better choice than Miles. I suspect most will come up with names that aren't big name coaches. Simply put, there wasn't a large pool of coaches with big names out there to pick from.
You quoted me, so should I take this to mean that you think I should get a clue? I wasn't the one who brought Neus up, so you are barking up the wrong tree. Maybe you meant that comment for someone else.
Nice try, but the burden is not on me. It is on LSU. Like I said, maybe this was the best they could do. I just suspect it wasn't. I could provide you with a list of names, but I see no point in that. I made a point in reaction to something LSU did. It's not up to me to decide how they conduct their business. No one is paying me to give them a list, either, so a list won't be forthcoming. o:
Ahh, so you are one of those people who can identify problems, but not the solutions? I find it amusing when people are critical without offering an alternative. So basically you are saying that LSU could have found someone better, but chose not to do so? I got it! :thumb:
