After listening to the press conference, I was not overly impressed and not overly disappointed. He seems to have a competitive streak which is good. He said he would consider the current staff, but said the Oklahoma State staff would be "better off" if they came here. It seems like he will give some of the current staff a chance. Two things bothered me though. One, when talking about Bo Schlembecher, he said that one has to have reverence for a coach and institution that molded you. Would he jump ship for Michigan? Two, Did this bug anyone else but me? Coach Miles said we would find out he is "relatively honest and a little deceptive." What the hell does that mean? Ok, we have a new coach. Geaux Tigers!!:lsug::geaux:
I think what bothered me more than anything was how evasive Skip was in answering the question about Coach Miles' buyout. Man, the last thing LSU would need is for this thing to fall thru because it hit that snag. The embarrassment would be terrible.
good point G-Man. Skip was evasive. But don't you think they would have settled this BEFORE announcing him as head coach?
He was talking about his relationship with the media. Although I was listening via audio on the Net, I got the impression it was a tongue-in-cheek remark.
OSU is ready to announce Grundy as their new head coach. If there are snags, Miles will have to eat the contract extension that he just signed with OSU through 2011, but that is unlikely. OSU will not be paying Grundy $2 Million per.
Admittedly, I am a little shell shocked by what has gone down since mid-December. When asked about Michigan, I heard Les say “anyone you’ve grown up in... you are obligated to.” Michigan will call if Les is successful at LSU and Les will not need 3 hours to talk about it. Les left the Michigan door wide open. The buy out is not $1 million. It is one year’s salary….~ $850,000 I hear. I am reading between Skips lines here, but the comparisons to Saban are soooo numerous! Even after Skip says “Saban is gone…lets move on,” his next statements make Saban comparisons. I don’t think Skip is %100 with Les. Things are moving toooooo fast limiting a complete evaluation of the NFL pool.
Put it this way, the only way Michigan comes to get Miles is if he succeeds a lot here, IMO. So....I wouldn't mind some more success
