Uh, they play Sunday, late afternoon (3pm central).

Also, teams don't fly out until Saturday morning for their Sunday games. Orlando can't be more than a 30 minute flight to Jax, so why's this so improbable to you?

    I can see it now:

Baton Rouge (AP) LSU head coach, Jack Del Rio, was fired by the university for letting Mike out of his cage and onto the Charlie McClendon practice field to "motivate" his players to run faster while in the open field.

Mike moved in on man-child OL, Herman Johnson first and after feasting on the young giant, began attacking lineman first. Skyler Green was the only survivor.

    :D

I think some students actually let Mike out of his cage in the 80's or 90's... thought I saw an article about them finding him wandering the track stadium

A "contingent"? Isn't Skip the lead person with these interviews? You don't need a 7-9 person "contingent" to conduct a preliminary interview.

This tells me, more than ever, that LSU did in fact meet with JDR, probably this past Tuesday.

Also, a contract may well have been signed today and, when Pass-the-jelly, caught wind of it, JDR's folks may have simply (gasp) *lied* to Len because they didn't want it to come out before Sunday's game.

I say this because the alternative---that LSU search committee members are as inept as Auburn's were in handling the Petrino fiasco last year---is too unbearable for me to consider...LOL.

It's entirely possible that ESPN is wrong on this. They sure were when it came to Tuberville last week.

If you put the WAFB report together with the Del Rio report, one would surmise that LSU was interested in Del Rio or Petrino. They flew to Jacksonville to meet with Del Rio and he declined to interview, so they said to themselves he can't be too seriously interested in us. Let's fly to Petrino and open negotiations. Hence, the WAFB report that the coach might be introduced on Saturday. If Del Rio is not interested and Petrino is their man, the sooner they announce it the better, so Petrino can hit the recruiting trail or phone (dead period).

That's true. It was Tulane students who did so as a prank, if I'm not mistaken.
