Seems to me I remember the word getting "out" that Petrino had been talking to AU while he was standing on the side lines coaching in a UL bowl game. Classy guy? Got his hand caught in the cookie jar? Funny how Mr. money bags from AU has been quite lately.

Talent is relative. If you have MAC level talent, and you beat MAC teams all over the field...you are beating them on a level playing field. It is not as if he is using SEC talent in the MAC. He did however match Miami with that MAC talent for a big portion of the game. I'd accept and support him, but would not lobby for him.

My honest question is what is the difference between Bobby Petrino and Tommy Bowden?
Both are/were hot C-USA coaches enjoying great success in the mid-majors. I think Skip will be able to sniff out a phony if he is.

I really hope you all give Les Miles of Ok State more consideration. He is in almost the same situation Saban was in at MSU, except he has managed to beat OU twice, which Mack can't. He has recruited well in the South in Texas and Ok, which we would like to do better in. Les Miles is definitely more qualified than Petrino, but I think Skip will know best. Skip needs to make an appointment with Les.

Is Jeff Tedford pretty much off the list? No mention of him lately...

I can't see for Miles (w/ apologies to The Who)

I don't know squat about this guy, but he just seems to smack of Curley Hallman to me, I don't know why.

I would be happy with Davis, Petrino, Del Rio, or Rodriguez.

tedford is believed to be Mr. Loyal and Integrity and his buyout is sketchy at best. He is without a doubt (in my mind) the best offensive mind in college football and stated such a few times before we needed a coach.

I think I'd take him first but know nothing of his true situation.

About Petrino. Remember, Auburn wanted him to replace Tubs. Florida would have hired him if Urban Myers would have went to Notre Dame. That's two schools and alot of folks taking a look at Petrino. He's worth a serious look.

Head coach Bobby Petrino brought big doses of offensive experience, enthusiasm, leadership and discipline when he was named head coach at the University of Louisville on December 23, 2002.

Petrino’s first priority when hired was to sign players and assemble a staff. Hired late December, Petrino managed to land a talented recruiting class to join the Cards this season, and a young, but experienced staff that will help the Cardinal football program reach their ultimate goals.

If Muschamp stays as DC, this might be quite a match up.

Hey check this article out about Petrino (when he first arrived at Louisville):

    http://www.courier-journal.com/cjsports/endzone/2003preview/stories/cfb-front-petrino0824-13146.html

He is the son of NAIA Hall of Fame Coach Bob Petrino. Been on the sidelines since he was two years old. Collects and saves all football data from everywhere he has been.

    Petrino majored in Mathematics.

"He's a worker, now," defensive line coach Reggie Johnson said. "I don't see how you could put in more hours than he does. Sometimes you think you're not going to be able to watch another second of game tape."

He was offensive coordinator for Tom Coughlin in Jacksonville. Definitely learned something about discipline there.

Sounds better and better to me. Still early, though.
