I'll probably catch some flak for this, but geez, people, enough is enough. Are we going to be held hostage like this every year?

I can virtually guarantee that for 99.99% of us, if we negotiated openly for two weeks w/ another employer, we wouldn't have lasted that two weeks on the current job...our bosses would've long ago fallen out w/ the redass and fired us.

In the early 60's, when Dietzel left, there were mebers of the Board of Supervisors who felt that the only way for the university to save face was to refuse to release Dietzel from his contract and then fire him.

Of course, Skip can't do that here...and in a rare criticism of HIM, I've got to say that he should've had his head examined for giving CNS a one-way deal, i.e., no buyout on Saban's end. That was just asking for our current situation.
If Saban leaves, I hope he's learned his lesson about that. If CNS stays, if I were Skip, I'd have to take him aside and tell him that he'd better not EVER put the university thru this again, otherwise, he'll find a reason to fire him FOR CAUSE...and then we'll just see who has the better attorney when it comes to collecting on that contract.

That's my rant for this morning. I suppose the better half of me is still hoping
that CNS will stay here and lead us to more SEC titles and NCs. But the longer this thing drags out, the attitude within me is slowly beginning to lean toward apathy about the whole mess.

This needs to be settled no later than tomorrow but there is really no reason for it to go beyond today. Nick has known he was getting the offer, he may have wavered somewhat but Im sure he's pretty much made up his mind. No need to drag this out.

If it drags out beyond Friday than Nick will be running a big risk of forever tarnishing his rep to many LSU fans.

Why would him having a hard time making up his mind tarnish his rep, I just don't get it. Should it be easy to be able to leave LSU? There is no doubt in my mind that the reason he has not made a decision yet is because of his family and the tugging on his heart strings by LSU. I happen to think that is a good thing myelf. What good would a decision by today have over a decision by tomorrow? I say let him take his time, make the correct decision without timeline pressure.

I've said all along that the decision needs to made before they board the plane to Orlando on Christmas Day. If he does this, then not much harm has been done to LSU, IMO. I feel confident that Skip has a short list of candidates ready to go and this process of hiring a coach will go pretty quickly. The dead period for recruiting ends Jan 9th, so that will give us two weeks to get a coach in place.

I'll probably feel like you if this thing drags out after Christmas. I don't want this to be hanging over our team as their prepare for the bowl game in Orlando. And I certainly don't want it to delay the hiring of our next coach.

I believe a decision will be made soon...

I understand why people are getting PO'd, I feel your pain. However, this is not an easy decision, and he owes it to his family to make a well thought out decision.

I just watched Cold Pizza this morning on ESPN2 and Skip Bayless said Zenga was making a huge mistake offering Saban total control because he is just going to hire "Yes" men, and basically do his bidding. Woody and the host absolutely concurred that Saban was making a huge mistake and they feared Saban would meet the same fate as Carrol, Butch, and Spurrier. They talked how really good NFL coaches like Holmgren and Shanahan are struggling to win being GM and head coach. Skip Bayless predicted Saban stays at LSU where he is king.

Take it for what it's worth.

    thank you

I am glad I am not the only one who wonders why a buy out clause was not installed in the contract. It would of at least slow down some of the rumors. This is a perfect example of the stupid people we have running our administration in Baton Rouge. All they know how to do is throw money at something.

As much as I love my job (I am in IT) I have been here for 13 years. If Microsoft called me and said TexasTigers we are going to almost triple your salary to hire you and give you complete control of your job.... OH and you have to live in Miami...

I have to admit I would NOT have waited this long....

My point, Saban has not made up his mind because he is struggling with this, yes I am frustrated to, but I had an epiphany this morning. What would I do, hence I believe today Saban is going to tell us Bye Bye....

Saban wouldn't have had it any other way

What do you give a coach who's just landed you a NC?

A contract that he wants to keep him here and happy.

... but it ain't over yet ... not looking great ... but I'll give up hope when I hear Saban say it's over

Tripling my salary is nice, but I'd have to check into the cost of living down in South Beach. If it costs 3x as much to have the same type of house I have now, NO THANKS!

Plus Honestly, although my work is in VB.Net, I don't think I could ever stomach working for the Evil Empire.....
