The ball's in Nick's court now.... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=1952037 One year after LSU coach Nick Saban began considering the Miami Dolphins as a franchise with which he might someday return to the NFL, Saban has the opportunity to turn intrigue into employment, ESPN.com has learned. Saban was formally offered the Dolphins job on Wednesday, but contrary to some reports he has not yet accepted. ESPN.com has confirmed Saban will spend at least Wednesday evening and perhaps even a few more days considering the proposal and discussing it with family members. Saban's agent Jimmy Sexton spent much of Wednesday meeting in Miami with Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga discussing contract parameters. The two made what one source termed "significant progress" toward a deal, but an agreement was not reached. Some details still need to be agreed upon. Financial details of Miami's offer are not known. But the contract would provide Saban, if he accepts, near-absolute control over football-related decisions and allow him to help reshape the organization following its disastrous 2004 season. Sexton will sit down with Saban on Wednesday night to go over the contract.
Nice...seems like Nick could be interested if Sexton was actually negotiating. Maybe he wants to get the best deal possible on the table and then make a decision. Or we could have been dreaming the last 24 hrs. and he is going - and wanted to get the best deal possible :|
I can't decide what to make of this... It appears as though nobody's inside information was really right and Nick hasn't made a decision yet. Could it be?
I've tried to remain positive and think Saban was staying, but all signs point to him leaving. Sounds like Miami are going to meet his demands...
Sounds like even if Miami does'nt give Saban what he wants, eventually some team will. Could it be the Saints? Of course, maybe Coach Saban is doing some soul-searching and thinking that he has found the "pot-of-gold at end of the rainbow."
Well if he still hasnt decided on what hes doing then its not that sure of a thing that hes leaving....right now it seems to me like its 50-50....
I completely agree. Today, Saban has no idea what he intends to do. That's exactly why we must act now. start rippin out emails, pep rally, whatever it takes. the man is unsure and could be swayed by an outpouring of love. just ask the dukies.
Sorry Crawfish, but with each piece to this puzzle starting to come out, your reliability inches closer and closer to the "can".
