First off, I feel for y'all (did I get that right?). The thought of possibly losing Ferentz someday is rough. BUT ... and correct me if I'm wrong ... y'all ALWAYS have been and ALWAYS will be LSU fans... not SABAN fans. Were you Saban fans when he was at Michigan State? I really like Saban, and I know he's a great coach, but your loyalty lies with the TEAM. My respectuful suggestion is that NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS WITH SABAN, we start talking a little football NEXT WEEK. We then start a collective weening of everyone's focus off of Saban, and onto the Bowl Game (you guys are still playing, right?) The culmination of this transformation (sounds like a U2 lyric), is that by NYE we are all merrily drinking ourselves into a blissfull pregame frenzy, trading gumbo for pork chops, and y'all can get on with the great LSU FOOTBALL TRADITION. What say you, my furry friends?
Great post, but yeh most of us are very huge Saban fans as well. But you are correct my friend, LSU will still be LSU after Saban departs us. One of my very close friends is an ISU grad and diehard, said to watch out for those Hawkeyes, but everyone that has been here has been really cool and understanding during our week long meltdown.
Oops, I'm already merrily drinking myself into a blissful pregame frenzy.... sorry... some of you have some catching up to do.
Nice post You just made me a feel a whole lot better and made me look at this situation in a different way. I now see it like Saban is losing us more than LSU is losing Saban.
That is excellent. Hey, I'm not saying it isn't OK to discuss the situation, but I remember the same thing happening on the Iowa board a couple of years ago when Ferentz interviewed for the Jacksonville opening. I also remember thinking: 1. No amount of speculation, arguing, or rumor-mongering has ANY effect on the final outcome of our coaches decision. 2. I have a tremendous amount of personal respect for our coach, and whatever decision he makes will be what he and his family decide is best for THEM. 3. If I could take the time and energy that has been expended on our message board and channel it into something good, like volunteer work, spending time with our families, etc., the world would be a bit better place. Good luck to y'all. LSU Football is back for good, with or without Saban. Top-level players, new stadium renovations, unprecedented fan support, and a winning tradition. Unlike Notre Dame, IF Saban leaves, there will be some great coaches lining up to continue your current roll. Personally, I like the Louisville coach for the job, but that's just my humble opinion. 11 Days until GAME DAY!
^^^ Now THAT really puts it all into perspective. In less than two weeks we get to see out tigers take the field and play some football!
My Feathered friend from Florida; this maybe the best post I have ever read. Thanks for the perspective and heres a cheers to one hell of a great Cap One Bowl.. Man I and jacked up and the game aint for 10 days. Geaux Tigers............. PS I'm very impressd with the Hawkeye fans that have graced our board with their presence.:thumb:
Thanks Big. I'm sure it's easier for an outsider to have this perspective! All I REALLY know is.... 10 Days until Kickoff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
