Money isn't an issue ... Del Rio has a five-year contract that is worth $1.2 million-$1.3 million annually, per ESPN.com.

Del Rio isnt going to come here, IMO.

Even if he did, he would be rumored for NFL jobs in a year or 2. We dont want to go through that again. He is doing a fine job in JAX. Let him stay there.

That doesn't matter....if we arent going to get coaches that are good then why not go get Dinardo back?

I hope we get somebody that people want, but I DONT want a coach that WANTS to go somewhere else.

Who says we arent going to get a good coach?

A lot of these guys being mentioned are great coaches, who aren't likely to have the NFL aspirations that someone like Del Rio would have. I'm pretty sure Butch Davis doesnt want any part of the NFL.

Like people say, Del Rio was interested in LSU 5 years ago, but he wasnt proven then. He was looking to get his break, and it didnt workout.

So he has finally gotten his break in the NFL, and I'm pretty sure he is set there for the time being. He's been coaching in the NFL for a while hoping to get an NFL gig. Maybe if he was on the hot seat in JAX, he consider, but they love him there.

I'd love to have LSU talk to Jack, but when's the last time a sitting NFL head coach up and left for a college coaching position?

The answer? Al Groh, who said at the time he left the Jets , "I realize there will be some criticism of this, but only I know my heart. Too, this provides the type of long-term security and stability not commonly found in the NFL nowadays."

Groh left after a single 9-7 season, so he wasn't on the hot seat (sound familiar?)

All I'm saying is, there's precedent there and, if Jack will listen, LSU most definitely should talk to him.

My whole point is it is crazy to think Del Rio will give up his NFL coaching gig, after he has tried for years to get one. That was his whole reason for trying to get to LSU 5 years ago. He was trying to get his name out. Until, he was a career position coach at that time in the NFL. His main aspiration was to get into the NFL as a HC.

I'm not suprised the Browns players responded like that. It is the NFL. It is a business. Poll his former Miami players, and see what they had to say about him. Im guessing it is a little more along the lines of "he is/was a great coach".

Think about it, Miami U alone didnt coax all those great players to come there. Davis had a heavy hand in that, and for that alone, I think it says enough about how much the players like him,
