This is becoming an all too familiar occurance in college football. LSU has been a victim of this as recently as last year (see Virginia Tech). Houston's AD has called out Nebraska, calling their program crap basically, for pulling out of a game next year to play perinial powerhouse Maine from D1AA. The NCAA has to step in and do something regarding this b.s..

I know the main reason why Houston is so pissed is because they had an ESPN game line up (a rarity for them).

Since they don't out and out say that's the reason for their anger, I can only stare in shocked amazement at their "backing out of a game is unprofessional" stance.

Uh, ahem, HOUSTON FREAKING BACKED OUT OF A GAME WITH LSU MERE WEEKS BEFORE THE START OF THE 2004 SEASON!

Good grief! Talk about hypocrisy! It's UH's buyout of its game with LSU this year that caused Arky St. to bump up, leaving the Nov. 5 opening in the 2005 schedule. You may say, "who cares?", but I bet you'd care about the 15 or so spot difference between the two in at least one of the BCS computer rankings (ColleyMatrix) if LSU were 12-0 and edged out of the Orange Bowl as a result.

Nebraska gives Houston nine months notice of a change of heart over a game for which a contract doesn't even exist...wow, how terrible of them (*sarcasm off*). :dis:

    No, no, no, no, no

**** the NCAA ... keep those twinkletoed ckskrs out of the business end.

Universities need to "get slick" and put high-dollar buyout clauses in those contracts to put an end to these games of "musical teams"

They wanna wiggle out ... poney up with the Big Green ... hit 'em where it "hoits"

Va Tech we're all aware about, but I thought the 2nd team to back out of a contract was Marshall???

    1 more reason

I think Houston actually had a good shot at beating Nebraska, maybe for the 1st time ever as bad as things have gotten there.
Thats what you get for firing Frank Solich, a HC with a 9-3 record that year.

I think it serves Houston right for doing that to us and I just hope VT gets the
payback also because I still remember. :dis: :nope:

    You are correct

This is becoming all-too-common... Coming from Nebraska, it isn't surprising. This is the same AD that fired solich after an 8-3 season, brought in a coach (Callahan) who had just been fired after directing a horrible season in Oakland, instilled a WEST COAST offense in a cold weather climate, and now is reportedly forcing scholarship players out of their program so they can replace them with recruits they think are better.

When you see Iowa fans express disgain for Missouri, it's because their AD cancelled a 2005/2006 home/home series with Iowa, replacing us with Arkansas State... They had to pay a measly $50k fine, and left Iowa with a late-scheduling problem. We approached Nebraska about a home/home series, and they declined... We ended up with Northern Iowa next year, which is a 1-AA program. UNI is a good program, but it really hurts our strength of schedule.

Some programs are simply run by a bunch of pu$$ies...

Marshall backed out in 2003. Houston backed out of their game with us this year in order to play Oklahoma. So we had to get Arkansas State to move their game with us up a year, and now we still have a hole in our 2005 schedule because of it.

So the Houston AD needs to shut his piehole. What goes around, comes around.
