not sure how the TAF rumor fits into this equation, but LSU's president is saying they are not budgeted to offer Saban an increase. It appears the new Chancellor and Skip met with Saban for awhile yesterday as well.

This is a mistake. They need to offer Nick something even a token amount or an improvement in facilities which can be funded by TAF or something. If you read his book, when MSU didn't really offer much of an inducement he left, thinking it mean they weren't as committed to him.

This basically goes along with what I speculated about yesterday. Unless TAF comes up with the money, there is no way the University is going to use public funds for another salary increase. They would be in some major hot water facing enormous public scrutiny from the non-football geeks and administrators.

I dont think its a mistake at all, LSU cannot compete with NFL money, if Saban leaves its not for the money for the most part, the question at this point is this is probably the last chance for him in the NFL, if he turns this down NFL teams wont waste their time anymore. LSU gave him all they could, now its down to if Nick wants to coach in College or the NFL...

LSU is doing the right thing...

Exactly...LSU "shouldnt" try to compete with NFL money. I'm all for it but its just not a smart business move even though my heart says do whatever it takes to pay Saban what he would get in the NFL I just dont see it happening.

    Wrong!!!
Where does this end when it happens every year?
He aint going to the NFL just for money folks.
He's been there before but this time he will be the lead dog in pursue of a dream taking his ego with him.

I think we should let him go if he needs to go and quite bribing him, he signed
a contract last year, why do that?
Contracts don't mean squat anymore I guess?

Everyone acts like Nick is the only coach in America.
Folks there are other coaches out there and we can get 1 of them this time
since Nick has the program in better shape and more attractive than before
    he arrived.

Enough is enough. Nick Saban signed a 7-year contract less than a year ago! If he wants more money, then he probably should go to Miami. If money isn't the central issue anyway (as many of us feel), then perhaps he'll stay a Tiger.

Regardless, I wish Nick Saban well, I hope he decides to stay, but I'll still be a fan of his if he leaves.

However, I don't want to be yanked around like this. 7-10 days really isn't acceptable when we're preparing for a New Year's Day bowl. It has to hurt the psyche of our team. Plus, how much more money/new and improved facilities would it take to make Saban happy if that's what he's after?

I am very close to someone who was in the TAF meeting Wednesday night and he said unless it(the talk of extra $$$$) happened after he left the meeting, he never heard anything about it. IMO we shouldn't offer one penny more than what we're paying him now. Due we up it another mill next year when the same thing happens(hell no!!!). I don't know where this rumor got started but it is 100% inaccurate.

    Tailored suits, chauffered cars
    Fine hotels and big cigars
Up for grabs, up for a price
Where the red hot girls keep on dancing through the night
    The claim is on you
    The sights are on me
    So what do you do
    That's guaranteed
Hey little girl, you want it all
The furs, the diamonds, the painting on the wall

Come on, come on, love me for the money
Come on, come on, listen to the money talk
Come on, come on, love me for the money
Come on, come on, listen to the money talk

    A French maid, foreign chef
A big house with king size bed
You've had enough, you ship them out
The dollar's up-down, you'd better buy the pound
    The claim is on you
    The sights are on me
    So what do you do
    That's guaranteed
Hey little girl, you broke the laws
You hustle, you deal, you steal from us all

Come on, come on, love me for the money
Come on, come on. listen to the money talk
Come on, come on, love me for the money
Come, come on, listen to the money talk
    Money talks, yeah, yeah

    Money talks, B.S. walks
Money talks, come on, come on

Come on, come on, love me for the money
Come on, come on, listen to the money talk
Come on, come on, love me for the money
Come on, come on, listen to the money talk

Money talks, money talk, talk, talk
    Hear it talk

    Yeah, yeah, yeah money talks

Were already paying out of the a$$. It is absurd to suggest we raise money to give to Saban to match the offer. No college is going to get in a financial pissing contest with an NFL team and win. No way. We can easily find a top 5 coach with the amount of money Saban is paid now if not less. Besides we got a lot of Facility upgrades where that money is needed.
This is obviously not about money, I mean the guy just signed a lucrative contract this year!!
